Where has this feature gone? The fact that Halo 3 is the only game this gen that I can find where you can play split screen with both online and system-link play is rediculous. Many games have come out since Halo has done this, and none of them have split screen for online or system link, and some of them don't have splitscreen at all. I'm sick of this. Has anyone else felt this way for the past couple of months?

PS: I am of course talking about console games exclusively on this matter.

I think it is kind of a dead thing. Online play is where it is at.

Online is for people that play games alone. Games you can have a party with are where it's at.

I guess people just don't go over to friends houses anymore. I just don't understand it myself. With these 60" HDTV's you could play 8 player splitscreen and have a screen to yourself that is bigger than ones we played Goldeneye singleplayer on.

I am quite disappointed that so few games feature splitscreen on consoles. I really enjoy playing in the same room as my friends and having good fun.

Splitscreen even with diminished view is infinitely more fun and it saddens me greatly to find that it is so rare.

I don't know, but it's a real shame. I never play online, but I really want to play games locally (and in co-op).

I'm really starting to hate online multiplayer, since I think it's killing local multiplayer and just singleplayer campaigns in general. It just seems like developers slap it in since now the replay value is "near infinite." Of course, reviewers put pressure on them to do that, as they'll mark down a game for not providing a lot to do if it doesn't feature online multiplayer anymore.

Its a fair amount of development resources for a feature relatively few people will use anyways. I dont think its worth the development effort from a business point of view, meanwhile, the surging popularity of online play has shown what it is consumers want.

I understand offline multiplayer cant be tracked, filed, and neatly assessed, but you dont oftenhear people asking for or complaining about split-screen. Meanwhile you hear constantly clamoring about games that dont include multiplayer (which in most cases imply online multiplayer).

I miss the good old Split screen days, I've never had more fun than doing some co-op Halo, or playing some Worms 4 with friends...

I quess the Xbox 360 and PS3 are now developed with the point of view from loners who want to make friends online... It's really sad, because it started with halo CE which was the ultimate game to play with friends at your house. The focus is just shifting to people who only play by themselves, and the whole playing with your friends thing is going downhill.

For example how on gears of war you could only play with your friends in private matches. I thought the point of online fps which were team based (read as: there's not even FFA) was to play with a group of communicative friends against another group of communicative friends. Halo 3 is now one of the rare games in which this is easily done.
