Almost completed the game until the final boss fight w Detlaff then kinda gave up bc I just couldn't beat him once he became that ugly ass Monster.

But that's besides the point! I started batman asylum, skyrim, dragon age inquisition and ori right after Witcher 3 and I just can't get as hooked on those games as much as TW3.

I'm afraid I can never love a game as much :( CD project Rekt gimme a Witcher 4 PLEASE.

Has anyone ever felt this way? Also what games do you love?

I felt that way after playing Morrowind back in the day. New games will step up.

IN three months you'll be saying this about another game.

And we [might] get Cyberpunk this year, a CD Projekt game, so yay!

Do you know a little about the cyberpunk lore? The game is at least somewhat based on a now very old tabletop game Cyberpunk. I haven't really found a great video for you or even a good wiki that explains it. I liked the terminology they used in the tabletop. Rockerboys, boostergangs, powerdealers.

If I understand correctly, the setting was a bit like this. Basically think of a future in which anyone can have (multiple but not too many) implants (or you'll lose your mind) and access to lethal tech and crazy drugs. Combined with some way too powerful corporations (heh not that hard to imagine, that part), and rock & roll used to inspire people to revolt. So nobody trusts each other and the law don't matter in most places. Guns will do the talking, and 'tude become vital to get things done (and not get shot).

@blisterplaster: LOL, it's over a 2 1/2 year old game already. What's the statute of limitations for spoilers? I wouldn't sweat it.

@KungfuKitten: I know the genre but not the tabletop game. I was a shadow run player.

I laughed at comments like this before I played the game, and once I played it... I still do. It's an excellent, well-made game. But it didn't make me incapable of enjoying anything else, nor did I find it to be some Holy Grail of gaming.

I don't exactly "laugh" at it, but I do share the same basic sentiment. The game is good but to me it's just a more polished version of every other open world game ever. It would've made a much more lasting and grand impression on me if it had actually evolved the genre in some way, but it didn't.

But I do understand how the TC and others feel about it, like I said, the game is good. Also I'm guilty of feeling the same way but it's regarding Dark Souls/Bloodborne so...

I was impressed by W3, but I never really fell in love with the game world. The bigger towns were just too generic and bland, and doing missions in them felt too much like Amalur. The lush and lively countryside was the best ever seen in games, tho...

Red dead redemption one was the best, having to navigate a breathing world, seemless and fun only to realise the sad ending.

The sad ending in la noir.

I got through about 7 or 8 hours of the game, maybe a bit more and left it. I might get back to it at some point but it requires far too much time. If the game had come along a few years earlier, when I was younger and could give up 5 or 6 hours at a time to play it, then I might have enjoyed it more.

@blisterplaster: The Witcher 3 is good for what it is, and respect it for dipping in enough areas to make 'many' satisfied. Whether they want nice presentation, story, or meaningful quests. . . And. . that's about it. Is that a bad thing? No, but it's worth noting it's only good at certain aspects and worthy of criticisms for its failings.

The volume of people calling these presentation focused games 'the greatest game ever' still questions my wonder of what they actually want from a game (I assume story heavy sandbox sims). Still believe the zeitgeist effect is responsible for that mentality, and as a result some perceive it as a better game than it actually is. Why I think this? Because many fans gloss-over input commands that can be a game of luck in-on itself, and combat is. . Well, I've stated all this before (combat isn't that good)and that's not even going into the hit and (way) miss level design.

TW3 wouldn't even crack my personal top 50 and I play many kinds of games, and I know it's a matter of opinion and taste, but I think if you look at these games more from a mechanical perspective you'll see more faults than notes of praise.

If The Witcher 3 is a game that one feels no game will ever be/is better than, then from a gameplay perspective I recommend you try digging out your narrow comfort-zone and play more games.
