Steam users, do you write and post reviews on Steam for the games you enjoy or wasn't impress?

As the title says above, I rarely write reviews on Steam. I only have 2 up on the games I enjoy. I'll probably write a quick one for Darksiders 3 when I advance in the story some more. There are games so good I played that deserved a review and I didn't write one. But I reviewed some good games, and some games I felt were mediocre. I guess it depends on the mood I am.

If not on Steam, do you write reviews here or somewhere else?

(I am thinking about writing them a bit more frequently. Very short reviews though)

I write reviews pretty commonly, usually outside Steam considering I dislike the service overall, and the review format is usually an indicator for customer notes and valuing the products current state.

Whether that be if it needs community patches/ modding just to work (Steam happily sells games that do not work without extensive Nexus browsing), toxic community, or patch notes.

Regardless when I do for distribution sites like Steam it's less a review you would see me post here and just being openly honest if it's worth buying as it is. As I did so for Dusk, Monster Hunter: World and Quake: Champions. Less in-depth and more valuing what it did right and wrong in the most basic form.

Sometimes. Most of them are just shit-posts.

If it's a really bad port, where it's obvious the Publisher shoved it on Steam without giving a shit, have a little therapeutic rant.

There's alot of older games like Tomb Raider I/II, and Legacy Kain that should have never got a foot through the door without a quality check. Others as well like Operation Racoon City, where GFWL dies, but Capcom never bothered to simply remove it or make the effort to transition it over to Steamworks.

Without user fixes, impossible to play. Yet.. still sold. Happily.

-

Typically by your own opinion it's nothing. But a culmination effect happens where users can instantly look at the right side of the store page and effect games. Which Publishers no doubt hate and would love to see removed.

You shouldn't need fixes in the first place.

Requiring fixes in the first place, while selling it, is bad.

Yes, I like writing reviews. For most people it seems that their ratio of reviewed games to their library is very small, but for me I've reviewed almost every purchase!

I also like reading other people's reviews.

Nope. Should get into doing that though.

I do for extremes (if I really like it or I really dislike it) but not for games that are just good (7 to 8/10).

Writing reviews is something I've always wanted to do, but never really get around to it.

Hmm. I wonder if I sit down with a game and plan to write a review on it, I might actually enjoy it more. I find myself drifting from game to game these days, without ever really finishing them.

I hate to say I’m one of those guys that usually only writes a review if the game was terrible. I should really write more positive reviews for the games I love.

I've written reviews for games I love. But there is that one rip-off of Ys I've been meaning to trash...

If I sink a lot of hours into a game and I feel like I had a solid understanding of the game I will leave a review. I feel like sinking twenty hours into a game isn't always enough to give a good review. I sunk 550 hours into Torchlight 2, I wrote a review on that game.

Nope. So far, I've enjoyed every Steam game I bought, especially Fallout 4. I see no point in typing up a glowing review of Fallout 4. All that will do is attract the naysayers....and I'm not in the mood to waste time with them.

It's bad enough here. What more from a site where people actually spend money in? Besides, I'm not a big fan of Steam either. It's just a necessary evil.

Steam Review gives the options to disable comments. But for me, it's not a feature I like to use and I always welcome everyone's agreements to disagreements.

Reviews take time; or should take time, so I rarely if ever review a game on Steam.
