Saw it set up at a legacy type store and people were using the huge controller setup, and were having a blast, the price is not too bad for what you get ($90 USD), but is the game long enough to validate the price?

Since MS is taking XBL support for Xbox games away, it would be worthless soon.

Right, the original wasn't, but a second, online only game was released.

Anyways, I think that it's a unique and fun enough game that you should pick it up. Is it complete in box?

I had it and hated to be honest. There's a bid on ebay for the entire set with a current bid of $25 (didn't check shipping). If you died in the game all your progress gets erased so you have to start all over again, very frustrating. Also I think the game plays too slow, but that's just my personal opinion. You should go back to the store and test it out for yourself and see if it's something you want to spend money on.

I bought it when it first came out and really regretted it, i think i spent $250 on it (can't remember the exact number), luckily I sold it for almost how much I paid for it

Steel Battalion: Line of Contact was the online edition. It sounded similar to the campaign mode featured in the 360's Chromehounds (which is also dead). Its campaign mode was cut long ago but it had a free battle mode which is still supposed to work on Live, pending the Live termination of Xbox support. I didn't get around to buying LoC and now there's no reason to at all. It's a damned shame. Steel Battalion itself is totally offline. It's a very complicated game to play and I haven't made much progress since I have the most fun pressing buttons and seeing what happens. You have to admire a game where you can be distracted from combat by having functional windshield washers and fire supressing foam dispensed on a whim. It's a pain to find a suitable place for the controller as it's so massive but it's really one of a kind. I just wish the HUD didn't take up so much space. If you think you'd enjoy piloting a mech with realistic controls you should have a good time. Also, you can avoid the data wipe by remembering to eject before you get blasted to bits. Failure in a mission doesn't mean automatic deletion.

i think its a fantastic game. it really puts you in the drivers seat in way never before seen. the original game is very long and slow. it takes a long time just to learn how to start the mech never mind become proficent at playing with it. loc is now worthless unless you can find a system connect buddy then you can have some more fun. i mounted my system on my wall so people can see it n all its glory. ill never get rid of it.
