I posted this in the xbox 360 forum, but I earnt a warning because it was off-topic (!!!) so I'll post it here...

I can't believe it - the 360 has no action replax max, codebreaker, nothing. I've been put off of buying so many games due to this (gta4 for one, since I KNOW it has stupid buggy minigames). I have 2 games, and one of them is only because a fellow gamespotter helped me cheat like there was no tomorrow. So, why are there no cheat utils? Even something to download a savegame would be great!

i think its because of M$ policy of 'no mods whatsoever' that prevents it from coming to the xbox. software such as gameshark, action replay, codebreaker, etc etc. adding codes to the gameplay and granting access to...say god mode. its sort of in terms of hacking or modding the game to suit ur own needs. then again, i could be wrong bout this.

Well seeing as Microsoft are reducing peoples gamerscores to 0 for cheating to get achievements (using downloaded saves etc.), I can see why companies have not bothered to make one.

To be really honest I hate cheats. Most cheats break the way games are intended to be played out and that generally ruins it for me. Cheats can somtimes be OK if you just wanna mess about but in online games is where its at its worse. There is nothing more annoying that cheaters in online games. Since xbox live is so key to the xbox 360 they want to stop cheaters because everybody minus the 1% who like to cheat hates them. Allowing stuff like this would make it so easy to cheat online and ruin xbox live.

I like cheats. After you beat the game, if you wanna run through it again without having to worry about dying or whatnot, you should be allowed to. I like how some devs make unlockable cheats. It really prolongs the replay value in my opinion.

Though I have no problem with the idea of people cheating on the single player (whatever floats your boat), given that Microsoft promotes the online gaming experience it makes sense that they would block any and all such cheat devices through whatever means possible.

Cheat devices died with the Xbox. Once online gaming became a common component of games it wasn't ethical to make cheat devices anymore since players would use them to cheat online. Game saves were the next step down but now with the gamerscore system even those present problems now. Its not that big of a deal though, most games are beatable these days. Its not like 15 years ago when games were meant to be nearly unbeatable and thus the only way to finish a lot of them was to either have superhuman reflexes or cheat somehow.

Surely microsoft could build a cheat device for the 360 themselves? That way they could limit the power gainable by cheaters, and add pre-built responses, such as making it impossible to get achievements while cheats are active. Also, they could make it so that the cheats are automatically negated if the cheater in question signs into Xbox live.

I just want to say I am in full support of what Microsoft is doing to get such devices out of gaming.

Whys that? If you think cheat devices ruin games, thats fine. If someone wants to cheat, its thier call. Its not as if cheats can ruin non-cheaters games is it? Personally though, I would like a cheat device for 360. It would be nice to be able to complete a game the normal way and then let loose and slaughter everything in your path, wouldnt it?

Cheat devices (and cheaters) suck. I'll put this in the "positives" category for the 360. :)

I wouldn't see much harm in it, so long as anyone who produced such a product went through a rigorous approval process by MS to assure that when their software was enabled, that achievements were disabled, and that the software could absolutely not be used while online.

well thats what they did to gta 4. i don't see nothing wrong with cheats either, but it is wrong to use that crap on xbox live or playstation network.

Unlockable in game cheats is the way to go. You beat the game? Sure, you can put god mode on next time around. But we all know cheaters are cheaters, they want to cheat the first time around or at the first sign of the game being difficult. They'll say anything to try to convince people it's a good idea.

As long as the cheats weren't affecting online gaming, I had no problem what so ever with it. Honestly, I don't think I can enumerate the number of games that benefited from cheats (be it in the game or from a cheat "device").

I wish developers (or is this Microsoft's doing?) would have continued to embed cheat into games this generation, because for a lot of us out there, they really upped the replayability. For instance, now that I've gone through Mercs 2, I'd really like to go through it again, but with cheats enabled this time.

It would be a bad thing because of the system for bragging rights ms has... Achievements would mean even less than they already do if people cheated to get them.
