Streets of Rage Vs. Final Fight

After playing these two series not long ago (title topic is Genesis and SNES respectively) I want to know which of these two classic beat-em ups you liked more:

Streets of Rage

or

Final Fight

Final Fight is garbage. Streets of Rage annihilates it with Streets of Rage 2 being the G.O.A.T.

I've always got a soft spot in my heart for Final Fight, but Streets of Rage (two especially) is something special.

Indeed it is awesome, and is my favorite game of all time. I've been playing it along with SoR3 nonstop for almost 20 years now, and they're still just as fun, if not more so, than when I first played them. Sadly, I feel the genre peaked with the SoR trilogy, and we'll never see a real sequel. That said, fan made projects like SoR Remake are probably way better than anything SEGA could pump out now.

I used to think Streets of Rage, but I played through Final Fight III about a year ago and the it has more depth to the gameplay. I also think the story is just better in Final Fight; "What?...My daughter..." ...then Mike Haggar just rips his shirt off and proceeds to take care of business.

I was always a sega fan myself but i did play final fight a couple times, it was ok but nowhere near the greatness of SoR2. I was in my early 20's when it dropped and yet here i am now approachin 40 and i still play it to this day along with sonic 1-3.

SOR especially 2 I've played that game continuously for the last 20 years and am still not tired of it.

That is not saying that Final Fight was bad at all, I still give it a play once and awhile. I'll also give credit to the Arcade version as it was a graphical marvel back in 89'. Final Fight was the game that really showed what the CP System hardware was capable of.

More evidence to back up my belief that Nintendo/SNES fanboys would be the ones to dare pick trash like Final Fight over Streets of Rage. Still, I can't completely blame them, because it wasn't in their hands that Streets of Rage's devine presence did not grace the SNES. If, however, there exists such a someone that legitimately prefers Final Fight over Streets of Rage, I don't ever want to hear that person's opinion on video games. :x

I mean just look at this, just perfect. What really upsets me is that SoR is so good, it literally kills my enjoyment for other beat 'em ups. When I try to play games like Turtles in Time, Two Crude Dudes, or what have you, half the time I'm saying out loud "Why is Streets of Rage so much better?" It wouldn't surprise if me other devlopers just decided to say "screw it," called it quits, and let the genre die rather than compete against perfection itself.

Two of my favorite beat 'em ups. I'd have to give the slight edge to Final Fight because it was a more memorable game to me.

Final Fight for me. I played it first so it had the bigger impact for me. And Streets of Rage 3 had a boxing kangaroo, WTF?

I still enjoy both series, though.

See, for the longest time I felt STreets of Rage 2 was the best. Back then I didn't even think FF compared. Throw in Streets of Rage 2, and then play Final Fight 3--FF has more depth. It is still a button masher at heart, but there's more technique to the game.

I actually tried a similar experiment about 6-8 months ago with my brother. We played Final Fight 3 (along with Turtles in Time) first then Streets of Rage. Final Fight is a slow, clunky, utter POS that puts the characters way too close to the screen. It's not even a contest. Every single one of the Streets of Rages is far superior in every facet imaginable.

Also, I don't see enough people praising SoR3. It's not quite as fun as 2 and the music is worse than the first two, but it has a little more depth in the combat, and it takes significantly more skill to be good at IMO. It's easily on my top 5 games list of all time.

Yup, you can't talk Streets of Rage without mentioning the soundtrack.

Even though SoR3 didn't have Yuzo Koshiro behind it, there is still some bamf music in it. :cool:

SoR1. More memorable music, characters, bosses and settings IMO. I have played some FF and thought it was cool, had some fun with it but it just doesn't beat SoR.

I'll be honest: I like BOTH series (Streets of Rage more than Final Fight). I played Final Fight in the arcade a TON, rented it for the SNES on a few occasions, and have the Capcom Cl*ssics Collection that has it and still play it from time to time.

EDIT: I think I played Fight Fight 2 for a day or two and never played Final Fight 3.:(

I'll be honest: I like BOTH series (Streets of Rage more than Final Fight). I played Final Fight in the arcade a TON, rented it for the SNES on a few occasions, and have the Capcom Cl*ssics Collection that has it and still play it from time to time.

I may be a Nintendo nut, but I'm giving props to Sega for the Streets of Rage series. It's better than Final Fight in almost everyway for me personally. It's more challenging, the music is MUCH better, the bosses are harder, the tone is much darker, It represents the Genesis in itself to me, which I personally like more than the SNES (but I still f*cking love the SNES. I've just had a Genesis my entire life, but I've only had a SNES for a couple of months, though I used to play it all the time at my grandparents.)

Streets of Rage is just a better series for me.

An echo? Scroll up my friend, because the only echo going on in here is the praise for Streets of Rage, its 2:1 ratio lead, as well as the crowning of SoR2 as the G.O.A.T. :cool:
