So is it just me but is this still an incredible game even after 19 years?
Sometimes jumping on walls can be finicky but it's still a blast.

It's my favorite game of all time. I have many CIB copies and a sealed 1st print copy. It never ages.
^Same here! Hands down favorite game of all time. My mind was blown being able to run in circles and do backflips off the trees lol, it was my first experience with 3D gaming (not 3D as in popping out the screen but...ahhh you know what I mean).
Everything about the game is just perfect to me for a mario/platformer game. There is flaws in the game, but they don't bother me one bit. To me they never touched the level that game achieved since.
If it hasn't aged by now, i am confident it will never age. I can honestly say that game's only flaw is the digital camera, but considering it was 1996, having any sort of adjustable dynamic camera was already a miracle in itself.
Great game no doubt. Haven't played it in several years now, but the game does pull at my memories when I see anything Mario.
Still an excellent game all around. The only thing that hasn't aged well is the finicky camera, but it was 1996 so it's excusable.
It's a great game. Something made me feel like playing it the other day but I decided to finish what I'm currently playing first.
I can still play it just fine, it's still fun. But it shows its age a lot.
The draw distance is absolutely horrible and it affects gameplay.
The camera is much less of an issue, it's not good but it works.
I bought the Virtual Console version and it still plays best on an N64, by quite a bit.
The game is downright inspiring in every facet of its design. All the Mario titles are great but what really puts 64 in one of the top spots is that the game really has its own identity. The visuals are consistent throughout the entire experience, and the sound is basically all new to the game(save for the opening theme.)
***The DS version is awful.

Agreed. Mainly because it was designed for the D-pad and the controls aren't as tight. The introduction to playing wario, luigi and yoshi was kind of dumb, but it doesn't bother me as much as the controls.
The frame rate sucks but the game is still fun. Those Youtube speed runs are insane.
That 13 minute one is awesome.
It was a great game at it's time but it's aged horribly.
You crazy!
No. I fully admit to have a very strong nostalgic connection to the game (it was the first three dimensional game I ever played) but there are severe design limitations (camera, gamepad) that hurt how it's aged. With a modern twin stick layout and smooth framerate, it probably wouldn't be nearly as bad.

I have 0 problems with the n64 remote. I actually do speedruns with it.
