Super Mario Bros. 2 is the best Mario game? Underrated?

I have a hard time even putting SMB 2 in my top 5 mario games of all time. That is not to say it was a bad game, but I felt that it was one of the least engaging titles in the series. 

I would agree that the diverisity in the characters was a big strength, but in terms of the scale and level design, I did not find it extremely impressive. Moreover, the level design was not superior to SMB or SMB3, in my opinion. 

As far as being underrated, I am not sold on that either. In my experience, most fans of the series appreciate the game, but I do not think it is viewed as one of the best.

It was cool and fun while it lasted, but can't say I liked it more than other SMB games.

Underrated?  Nah I think it's given proper treatment.

No, that game would still be considered nothing but Doki Doki Panic if Nintendo of America didn't ruined it for everyone.

Did like SMB 2. Remember playing this game like crazy when it came out on the NES.

My best mario game I'd have to say a tie between SMB 3 and Galaxy.

It might be a little underrated now, but it sure wasn't when it first came out.

Good game but not up to Bros. 3 level imo.

I always liked smb 2 even though its unique and weird that was part of its charm. Best game ever? No not really smb 3 was far better and other marios such as mario world on snes were much better. It was a good game though and solid for its time
