So much detail, story driven, clean presentation... i believe we have another mmo giant that will compete with wow at the same level... what do u think??

I would like to play it, but it's subscription based, and I hate paying to continue playing something I already own. Anyway, it does indeed look like an amazing MMO, I'm sure it'll do great. And maybe, just maybe, it will do better than WoW.

I'll add that I don't think it will kill WoW no matter how good it is.

I hate WoW now tbh but millions and millions of hardcore fans waiting for a new xpansion.

It'll be fun to play when not playing wow at the time imho.

I disagree, even though the game looks good overall, we don't know how the final game will turn out until we play it, saying its a "wow killer" is silly when Wow has 10+ million subscribers to it to date and shows no signs of slowing down, people need to stop using terms like "blank killer" to loosely.

I have a feeling Blizzard did this Cataclysm thing as a way to keep fans hooked. They're completely changing the face of the game because they know WoW is getting boring and SWTOR is looking pretty threatening.

The main reason that it is going to rock is because of Bioware. I heard that Star Wars galaxies was bad but I have never actually played it. Even if I have to pay,I think it was confirmed that you do(no price confirmed though),I am playing as a dang sith.

I heard Galaxies was great until they released that new game enhancements or whatever and totally turned a huge part of the community off the game. I can understand why though since they didn't tell anyone about it until like 24 hours before it was released.

Actaully the whole "changing the entire game world" thing has most likely been in the making for at least three years. See in the first expansion, they aded flying mounts in the new area it introduced. Because it had to be designed entirely differently from the original games areas to allow flying, they said that in order to allow flying mounts in the original game's areas, they'd have to compeltely build them again, almost from scratch. And what's happening, three years or so later? A new expansion, with a rebuilt Azeroth (excluding Northrend from the second expansion), and flying mounts. I'm pretty sure this has been in the works since then, and of course, why wouldn't they take the oppurtunity to upgrade and expand on the original areas as they rebuild them? I don't think you quite appreciate how much work has to go into developing and continuing to develop an MMO. They can't just go "ok, Bioware have a new MMO coming out, *poof* there we go, a new expansion for the masses".

One thing I can say about Cataclsym, the look of the older zones after the massive chaos looks cool with the lava and upheaval of the land.

Anything Blizzard does in terms of expansions or updates it does to better cater to its own community, NOT because it feels threatened by any future release. Sure some of these games display new and interesting ideas, but MMO history has shown that new MMO launches never kill off long established player bases, so to assume that anything can kill WoW is completely rediculus. Furthermore, WoW has continued to show great strides on building on its successes while eliminating the few weaknesses it has.

Also Galaxies never had such a big player base to begin with, whatever NGE might have done to the player base, The Old Republic is a different beast and I believe it will hugely successful but I don't think that you have to kill WoW in order to carve out your own market and as was mentioned these expansions are in the making for years they aren't suddenly thrown together in response to games that aren't even in beta.

I don't think you have any idea what I'm trying to get at. I never once stated they just pulled the idea out of their asses when SWTOR was announced, just that it's a much needed change for a game that's run it's course and that it'll help WoW stand it's ground when SWTOR does come out.

iv played SWG since launch and still do and in its first 18 months SWG was one of the best MMO's out there unfortunately due to WoW's success they tried to clone WoW in the SW universe and it was awful, although it needed some fine tuning balancing classes etc the core mechanics were perfect. fortunately the space portion of SWG has remained pretty much intact from its first introduction and thats what has kept me going back to it.

rather not talk about how they introduced the NGE still bitter about it to this day, i can honestly say that my time playing SWG in its first year was probably my best time gaming ever and the way it was just taken away was cruel.

Yay! Double post!

Do you guys actually think about what you read? I never said anything about them feeling threatened. Stop putting words in my mouth. Anybody who's taken the time to look into SWTOR knows it's going to be big. It's going to be a force to be reckoned with hence the word threatening. It's not going to turn WoW into a wasteland by stealing it's entire community. That's an absurd way of thinking. However, as I said before, I never said they just pieced the expansion together out of thin air when SWTOR was announced, just that it's a way to keep the fans hooked as another reportedly big MMO is on the horizon.

I feel that way too, hopeit pulls through. It'll be tough to top WoW in terms of just sheer variety and the popularity it just generally has.

The recent developer videos make SW look pretty interesting. All voice overs is a nice feature.

True but Star Wars is also very popular. I'm sure that there will be DLC classes or expansion packs for extra classes. That would be tough though because of the voice overs.

Just say it's a good game, don't call it a "WoW killer" because it absolutely won't be. Blizzard will be the only company to make a WoW killer.

Of course, no need to try and turn this around when you simply didn't present your point correctly. Anything an MMO developer does is to keep its player base busy that absolutely makes sense. Do the developers of World of Warcraft know their game is getting boring? That's a subjective statement that isn't backed by actual player numbers, so what you said innitially just doesn't make sense. You said TOR is threatening. To whom? You? Blizzard? Me? To all of those I think the answer is no so again you implied that the game was threatened by the impending launch of the game... which again doesn't make sense (again perhaps the wrong word, but don't pretend you didn't say it).

And Cataclysm has been in developement since before Wrath was launched which means that it wasn't done in response to anything except what fans of the game wants which is what ALL MMO developers do (i.e. keep their player base happy). Trying to link TOR and WoW in any other way than to say they will both be/are successful games is crazy talk.

I'll agree it was poor choice of wording and presentation of my point on my part. I don't see WoW going anywhere. People are undoubtedly going to play WoW and SWTOR, a lot of them will stick one game, and others will stick with both. Still, I don't see why you're trying to tell me about how long it's been in development for though since I never implied or said they just pieced it together with paper clips and bubble gum when SWTOR was announced. It makes me feel like I'm talking to a fanboy(note: I'm not saying you are). I just find it good timing on Blizzards part.

I don't think I'll ever understand WoW, but I'm pretty pumped for anything put together by Bioware.
