Upon picking up Arkanoid and Space Invaders Extreme for the DS, I noticed in the lower right hand corner of the box it says:

Taito--A Square-Enix Company

Did I miss something? Since when? Is this a known thing or is this news to everyone?

Maybe this is the answer to the overpriced Square games everyone has been complaining about! SIE and 'Noid were both priced at $19.99.

Think of the potential here! Maybe we'll see Rainbow Islands in the next Kingdom Hearts. How about Invaders fighting next to Slimes in the next Dragon Quest...!

No...? Yeah, I didn't think so either, but isn't this a little weird? An acquisition like this with NO publicity?

Yeah, this happened some time ago, but for some reason I haven't seen their name on Taito games until now.

Well I'll be. Either I totally missed that or I just didn't think it was important enough at the time. You learn something new everyday. Thinking about it though it would be kind of cool to see some kind of game come out that had a mix of these developer's characters.

Yeah, it was news to me too.

And regarding possibilities, I think a slime shaped ship on the next Space Invaders would rock everyone's socks off. A happy, smiling ship full of plasma cannons and terror.

It wasn't crazy high profile, but yeah, it happened, namely from the basis of getting more headway into the arcade industry, if I'm not mistaken.

I knew this back when it happened.

Also, a big part of Hudson is owned by Konami if any one cares.

I didn't know this either since when I bought Taito Legends 2, there was nothing mentioned about Sqaure-Enix or anything.

So this is news to me as well.

They're basically the same thing, except reviews are recommending the DS version because the PSP version has too much going on on the screen that makes things hard to see.

But game wise, it's the same.

You *might* have played a version of Bubble Bobble or Space Invaders during your years as a gamer.
