I saw a lot of new stages. Most of them looked cool with a lot happening in the backgrounds (Helicopters crashing into buildings, meteors taking down a single wall :| ), but none of them seemed interactive. Though the game does introduce "items" you can attack with, I saw a Guitar, penguins, magic wand (not kidding), that huge machine gun from Predator etc.. and of-course there's 'new customise', you can now customise your fighter's hair. That's it, just the hair apparently.

anyway, It did look pretty cool. Not as good as the fake CG trailer they showed at E32005, but looks great nonetheless. I would rather pick Mortal Kombat VS DC Comics over this game, now that game is impressive!

In Before DarkCatalyst onslaught:

Both games are looking rather meh at this point for me, with Namco pulling Tekken 6 into the same sort of cheesy gimmicks that it has been dragging its Soul Calibur franchise through, but whats worse is that it could really end up affecting gameplay and unbalancing what once was a franchise at the pinnacle of the genre. I saw on gaf that a girl's hands could be turned into chainsaws, that is either the lamest idea I've ever heard of or the coolest, but I really just don't like the risks that Namco is taking with this game because all of their additions lack real depth and are pretty worthless IMO.

Mortal Kombat Vs. DC looks much much worse, but that is to be expected because its a Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Comics game. DC is pretty lame with the exception of a few of their more gritty villians and superheroes and Mortal Kombat hasn't been relevant since UMK3. Tekken 6 could still end up being a game where I just pick it up, and ignore all of the lame gimmicky gameplay additions, while Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Comic is wholly just a gimmick in of itself.

The only upcoming fighting games I'm really excited for all have Street Fighter in their titles.

The thing with MK VS DC is that you can tell the game doesnt take itself seriously. It is supposed to be a fun party game and it's supposed to be flashy. The good thing is that it's doing it with style. THe new additions in Tekken 6 appear to be nothing but gimmicks. Of course I havent played the game yet, so these "items" might end up being more than just gimmicks but in terms of stages alone, those backgrounds dont really bring much to the gameplay while MK VS DC uses even the transitions b/w its multiple level stages as gameplay segments.

Besides, any game that features this Joker fatality is a Day 1 for me. :P (It's at 3:35 into the vid)

^Yeah I've seen that about a thousand times in GIFs and whatnot already, its funny, but not as funny as the premise of the entire concept of the game...And I don't mean funny in a good way. :(

I am unable to view Tekken footage in a fair and unbiased manner. I love the series too much. The items look like all the other power moves in that they have a long chargeup time and they look easy to interrupt/avoid, so I'm ok with that. The game looks great. I'm glad that the PS3 will be getting Bloodline Rebellion instead of just plain old Tekken 6. It was a bummer to feel obligated to buy Tekken 5 PS2, Dark Resurrection PSP and Dark Resurrection PSN. Hopefully they won't milk Tekken 6 as hard.

I'm glad that the U.S. will be getting the full T6 update with Bloodline Rebellion. It totally blew when I bought the original Tekken 5 for the ps2 and later found out about Dark Resurrection on the psp and Ps3. I was forced to play my favorite character Lili in the arcades :( Now that arcades are conpletely gone (at least where I live) and the update is here (and hopefully more updates online), I can be satisfied with just purchasing that one game.

I never really saw Tekken in the same lines as Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter, but it sure is damn fun to play. So even with the gimmicky item moves that makes the game into a projectile party, I'm totally looking forward to this!

I watched the vid yesterday and I was like WTF:? The only thing I liked were the new stages. The item moves look ridiculous. Especially the minigun Bryans was holding. The 2 new characters look like they dont belong in Tekken.

Dont get me wrong, Im a huge Tekken fan, and most likely will get it when it comes out. Im just hoping you can change some things within the game in the options. Just hoping.

What's to say, really? I haven't been this disinterested in Tekken since the first two installments when it was that abysmal "Rock-em Sock-em Robots: The Game" garbage.

I had a good run through Tekken 4 and the Tekken 5s. In the 90s, I didn't imagine I'd ever even get that much out of the series.

yeah, i'm not really feeling the new items change in the series...pretty sure they'll ruin the gameplay, and they look lame to boot...

Being a Tekken fan I'll most likely still pick the game up but from the sounds of it these new additions don't look to be doing the franchise any favours.

Gamespot has a new hands-on with Tekken 6.

The items may sound like they'd give an unfair advantage to card holders, but from what we've played at the AM Show, these items are more or less a novelty. For instance, Bryan always starts shooting his machine gun slowly from the far end of the z-axis, and it leaves him vulnerable to attacks the entire time. Lily's penguin attacks are a two-step process. She first needs to summon at least one penguin, and then she needs to command it to dash, which is done by holding down on the controller and pressing start. She's left wide open in her commanding pose while the penguins are running, which makes her vulnerable to attacks as well.GS

Did I call it earlier or what?:P I don't think items are anything to be worried about. They might be pointless, but they aren't going to break the game either.

I don't think it's so bad.

Soul Calibur has always had a "Serious Mode" and a "Goofy items: Time to Fool Around for Fun Mode". They were pretty much kept seperate so people who take gameplay seriously weren't disturbed by healing items, double damage weapons, etc. Why wouldn't Namco do the same thing here?

Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion isn't ruined quite yet.

I think that most of it looks good however i do not agree with the fact that weapons are being used in tekken now as i think this is coming dangerously close to Soulcalibur. I am a fan of both Soulcalibur and Tekken but i think at heart Tekken will always be remembered as the game where you used your fists and Soulcalibur is when you used weapons. This is only a small matter but soon Salicalibur and Tekken will be the same game if it continues down this path.

Wow, we can change their HAIR?! Seriously this customization thing is really overhyped. I got tired of SC4 within a week, but that might be because I had better things to do that create anime cameos =P
