I am glad in my country we got the american nes and the japenese snes. Imo the famicom even if its smaller looks horrible. Also the controllers are stuck into the consoles thats not reliable and handy. But i am glad we got the japenese snes which just matches better to nintendo games and has coloured buttons which are not so confusing like on the us model. Whats your thoughts?

I kinda like the setup for the Famicom, the way the controllers stick to the sides is pretty neat and convenient. As for the SNES, I like all of the models for it, I never had a problem figuring out what button was what. :P

I think the US/PAL NES was a decent looking system, and actually improved on the Famicom due to detachable controllers, though a top loader would have been better.

as for the US SNES, I think its pretty ugly, and its a good thing Nintendo Europe stuck with the Japanese Super Famicom design.

I wonder why Nintendo America even bothered to change the design, and to something worse.

The US SNES looks bad and Famicom JR. looks weird. I like the US/Euro NES, but Famicom had way more games (and no censorship).

edit: NES came two years later than Famicom while US SNES came a year later than Japan/Euro SNES.

There is a NES top loader.

sadly I don't think the toploading NES was released here in Europe, the US toploading NES looks kinda wierd, though its probably more reliable.

Its very reliable, and can play PAL NES games as well, or I've heard it can.

But the U.S one was better than European one becuase games had no slowdown or huge borders around the screen like the 50hz PAL one did.

not every game was like that, some games were optimized and ran at full speed with no borders. though that did really only start happening often around the late 90s

I would say its the opposte, I would rather a handheld was comfortable then good looking. by comparison ,a game console should at least look presentable on the counter its sitting on

Yeah, the design was pretty bland, but it did what it was supposed to do: play games.
