What I mean is.. do you buy games and never ever finish them? Some people do not even open their games and they're still in their plastic wrap. That I might understand.. but for people who buy games.. play them for a bit and end up turning over to do something else or play another game. Is it because of boredom or you just like a diversified videogame library?

Personally, I like to play multiple games at once. Just a couple of days ago, I purchased a Nintendo Wii. I picked up SMG2 and Metroid Prime 3 Corruption. I put in about 5 hours into SMG2 the first day I purchased it. Now, I'm not even thinking about picking it up to play again.

Other games that I have neglected to finish are Final Fantasy 13, Resistance 2, inFamous, Halo Wars, RDR, Splinter Cell Conviction, just to name a few. Before I purchased the Nintendo Wii, I already purchased SMG1 online and I'm still waiting for it, lol. I feel like I'm greedy half the time because I just want all the high calibur games but when i have them, I tend to neglect them.

As of this morning, I was already conceiving thoughts to buy LoZ: Twilight Princess, but I'm reconsidering because I probably know I'll never be able to find the time to play them all.

Feel free to mention the games in your Backlog. Even share with everyone why you have this some habit.

Wow sounds like you have backlog syndrome bad.

Sit down with your games. Just beat them all and stop buying new games.

Anyways, I have a small backlog, partially because of lack of time and partially cause boredom/difficulty

I have

  • Prototype- this is the most frustarating game Ive ever played.
  • 3d Dot Game Heroes- Got this game same month I got other games, and I cant beat the dungeon. So, boredom and difficulty, but only slighty, I still play it alot
  • Valkyria chronicles- SRPG's just arent right for me. No matter how good I will not find this one good. I will never get around to finishing this one. Sorry.
  • Borderlands- Got this one recently, still constantly playing so its not excactly backlog just uncompleted
  • SMG2- Same has borderlands
  • Red Faction Guerilla- Same has SMG2
  • My PS2 games- Same has Red Faction: G

I get a huge backlog of games, technically I've got about 12 games that I'm still in the middle of across DS, Wii, PSP and PS3, as I can't do that 'hardcore' thing of playing the same game from start to finish...unless it's unbelievably amazing or I'm very short on games. I do usually finish plenty of games, but I very rarely play them exclusively, and it tends to take me ages. I've also got Phoenix Wright: Trials which is still unopened, but I'm thinking that if the 3DS is out this year (or very early next year) as suggested I'll stick with the ones that I've got and save the money for when the 3DS is out.

I can't even begin to list all the games I have left uncompleted. I'm trying to go back through some old games now, but it is very time consuming with them mostly being RPG's. I tend to leave them because something new comes along. I think my Xbox is a big issue in this, because most of my uncompleted games are on my PS2 and earlier gen consoles, and I don't get achievements for them. I am guilty of being a bit of an achievement whore at the best of times.

I start to play them for a little while, then put them aside so I can finish the one I've been working on before starting a new one... I think I have RPG-ADD. :(

I have a ridiculous backlog across new consoles, old consoles, and my gaming PC. Luckily this year is winding down for me as far as game purchases go.

My ability to buy games outpaces my current ability to play through them.

The last time I didn't have a backlog was 2000...there are Dreamcast and GBA games I haven't touched yet.

My backlog always stays in the 30s. Sure I might not catch up until they stop making Xbox 360 games but thats fine with me. Makes my investment that much better.

Im awefull for it. If Isee a game cheap I buy it, Thanks to the recent steam sale Ive been reeled in good. I thinkI have added 5 or 6 new games to the collection, with more days of the sale to come (and the THQ pack looks very tempting).I already had loads to finish. I hope its a quiet summer so can catch up ready for the games released for the holiday season. I think its down to bargain hunting and geting bored easy.

Mine is small at this point in time. I have to pace myself now having recently bought a Wii- ie, I'll get RD: R only once I finish Yakuza 3 and NSMB once I finish Galaxy or NMH. I'm making slow progress on FF XIII, I play it solidly for a week or two then leave it for a while. So not much of a backlog and I have Peace Walker arriving tomorrow.

really? I always thought prototype was one of the rare games that had a perfect level of difficulty. The game always felt challenging to me without it ever feeling cheap or bs

It would be a lot worse if games weren't so damned expensive these days. But let's just say... there's nothing like that new game smell. ;)

Not really. I tend to buy a game, and play all the way thru it. The only exception is if a "great" game comes out. Example: I was playing Darksiders (good, but not great IMO), then RDR came out and that's all I've played since it came out.

I can't understand how some people have backlogs of full-priced games that are still wrapped. That seems a bit wasteful. I've sort of "forgiven" my backlog. I hope to play them eventually, but most of them I've already put a fair number of hours into (never beat FO3, but I put about 35 hours into it and only paid $30) or were bought at ultra-cheap prices. I've just decided that I'm going to focus on my purchases from here on out. I'm limiting my purchases and just playing the games that I really want to. A few weeks ago, after finishing Clear Sky, I probably should've fired up Shadow of Chernobyl, but I just decided to replay MGS4 again. I had already beaten it once, but it was the game I wanted to play. And I had a damned good time, which I probably wouldn't have had if I had forced myself to slog through a different game to "reduce my backlog." I've stopped buying games simply because they were cheap. I've probably spent more money on those games that never got played than I have on full-priced games that I regretted buying.

Unfortunately I've got a bunch of games on backlog at the moment. I haven't bought a new game in a few months, I have been trying to finish some of these games before I pick up some new ones. My backlog is not as bad as it used to be, but it def got out of control last fall with so many great games that came out in a short period of time that I wanted.

It seems RPGs take the longest for me to finish so I rarely ever finish those.

Games like battlefield 2 or Gears of War 2 sidetrack me as well from finishing games

Probably something like 40 games backlogged or something ridiculous. The problem is its much easier to buy games than to find the time to finish them all :P Plus I love to replay some games when the mood strikes so that dosent help with my backlog either.....

That's what happens when you buy too many games. No matter how much time you think you have or may have you never have enough time to play them all. And you're always gonna choose to play the better game. So if you run out and buy 2 games you'll just play the one that is better and burry the other one.

I'm aPC gamer. I just never see many games worth playing in the console libraries. It's always been that way for me. Even then I have games I opened, tried and never played beyond that. Such as GTA III & Vice City. I have a lot of PC games that I have opend installed, played a little bit then then abandoned.

I think I had one of the 007 GC games still wrapped, because the other 007 game I bought suckedbut I eventually unwrapped it due to bordom.

Right, but even as akid I never had the time to play all of those games. I wasn't the type to speed through a game then go to the next. Although back then the games were really hard with no saving. You had to play the game again & again to memorize everything. I spentmost of my time skateboarding. I play more games now than I ever did as a kid simply because Ino longer skate boards.

I can tell you every NES game and Genesis Game I played in detail. As well as Sony Playstation and Dreamcast. I still remember the Resident Evil 2 like the back of my hand and I haven't played that for about 12 years. So we played those game a lot more than we play the newer games.
