I want to subscribe to a magazine but I'm stumped on which one I should subscribe to. most people say EGM is the best, but then there's also GameInformer and GamePro.. any others that are better than these ones?
also I'm feeling kind of iffy on giving out my credit card number over the internet.. has anyone done this and is it safe? (I just got my new credit card today :D)
Go down to your local gamespot and get gameinformer there, its a good mag and you get 10% off of used crap so if you buy alot of games you could make back your money easy... gamepro has sucked in every-way since 1993 and now days they make stuff up on top of sucking ... EGM the once great and mighty is now a liberal hippy rant with a bunch of cynical dudes that seemingly quit liking games years ago.. That particular mag is quality but they insult readers every chance they get. most definitely if said readers lean to the right wing sorry to rant. .... EGM sucks...
EGM is the only REAL console game mag left with quality writing, previews, and reviews.

If you're definition of a real mag is one that dedicates 10+ pages on a Halo preview while it's review for the game of the month gets less than half a page, then by all means get EGM. I used to defend the mag despite their blatant love for all things 360 but since I got that issue, I've never bothered renewing my subscription.
EGM is the only REAL console game mag left with quality writing, previews, and reviews.

Well if you read the magazine more than once you would know that EGM's previews are always the biggest section of the magazine and not just the Halo preview. The reviews are always about half a page unless its a really big release such as GTA IV which gets one or two pages. They not only show love for the 360 but all the consoles. I guess some people get really offended by the 360 having the largest quantity of quality games this generation.

I'm not talking about the preview section, I'm talking about the preview for one game. And it wasn't just a review, it was their own game of the month. I don't know why they even bother placing a review section when they can't even support the score they gave for their pick that month. Even GameSpot atleast tries to go in depth on what makes a game good or bad.
Well I like EGM the best, but taking my word for it would probably be a sorry way of choosing what mag to go with. The reason there is such a difference of opinion among people about this is that each magazine is actually intended for a different audience. Your best bet, in my opinion is to go buy a copy of each magazine your considering and see what one you like best (or read it in the store if yer feeling cheap ^^). As far as using a credit card online....well it's just the way things are done nowadays, it's understandable to be nervous about it considering all the hubbub of identity theft and such. The truth is if someone wants to get your credit card number or social security # (if your american) there is really nothing you can do to stop it (it may sound weird but I take a perverse comfort in that). Also most identity theft is done by people you know......
