haven't played the game yet but from what I hear The Darkness is one violent game. Granted that no one has played Manhunt 2 do you think the violence is probably on par with that of Manhunt 2? Like I said, given from some of the things I have heard, The Darkness is in close competition. Let's just say for the sake of argument however that The Darkness is indeed just as bad as Manhunt 2, why is The Darkness not rated AO?

I am not 100% sure but I think one of the main reasons why Manhunt 2 got the AO rating was because of how you have to use the Wiimote to do the killing in the game, but like I said I am not sure.

If what I've heard is true, Manhunt 2 was rated AO because of some sexual content. Of course, I haven't actually seen that confirmed, so who knows. And it's still screwy that a movie like Hostel 2 gets rated R (the equivalent of M) but Manhunt 2 has to get AO...there's no consistency, really.

Oh, and it doesn't have anything to do with the Wiimote controls because if it did, the PS2 version wouldn't be rated AO as well.

So, to answer your question (although I haven't played either game), it's because the industry is screwed up. :D

actually, besides the typical gun play...the Godfather-esque finishing moves, the only real gore you get is from impaling enemies, the berserker stabbing/beating people and the crawler biting necks and eating out hearts.

In manhunt, you're up close and personal doing the worst kind of finishing moves with each of the weapon you have equiped.

there also might be that whole thing where, in the darkness you have this dark demon thing doing most of the gore-infested stuff and in manhunt it's all human on human violence.

I really don't know the exact reasoning but it's guesswork any way you look at it.
