[QUOTE="noswear"][QUOTE="solidsnake2050"]There is nothing wrong with Oblivion. I was and still am a fan of morrowind, but oblivion is way better. Just because the map was slightly smaller doesnt make it worse. Morrowind had a ton of stuff in it, but Oblivion is way more realistic and has a much more finished feel to it.HiResDes
None of the criticism was to do with size. It was about the game being noobafied for consoles.
For consoles? That makes no sense whatsoever, as Morrowind was also on the Xbox and was virtually the exact same sans mods as the PC version.
Pretty much. Which is why I think Bethesda has just become incompetent. I know some people out there enjoyed Oblivion; but not everyone did. I wish I had lower standards or never actually noticed what's broken about the gameplay because then I'd have an extra game to play. Morrowind has always been one of my favorite games. I anticipated Oblivion since its announcement. Hell, I even went out and asked the guys at a local store to sell me the game early (and they did since I worked there :P).
I beat the game before the game got any reviews whatsoever and I figured the game would get probably around at 80% average. But instead, it got insanely high ratings across the board. Which didn't make sense because it had less of everything compared to Morrowind. Less skills, less exploration, seemingly less quests, short main quest, less interesting game world, less immersion, less unique items, less lore, and less reasons to play.
The game did a few things right. It had better combat. And well - that's all I can think of. I don't know how so many people are convinced it's a great game, let alone think it's the greatest game in the Elder Scrolls series. Maybe I have higher standards, or maybe we are playing the game for different reasons. But either way - it makes me doubt Bethesda.
