so anyone wonder why all the successful online/multiplayer games are usually FPS or shooters in general? i was playing halo1 online a few minutes ago and i must say blasting other people sure is fun. is it guys natural attraction to guns, explosives and the chance to beat others? anyone know why these online games are really popular despite their repetitiveness and similarities? whats so cool about firearms and nades? well i guess its b/c of the pace and the in your face action...

your thoughts on online FPS/shooters?

People just want a fun, balanced online game.

Few games, even any shooter on the Xbox or the 360, are played more than World of Warcraft and Starcraft - an MMORPG and and RTS, respectively. Its not necessarily about it being a shooter.

If it is fun, people will play the mess out of it.

If the concept works WONDERS online and it's all fair and balanced (or as balanced as can be), expect it to be played for a LOOOONG time.

btw: Go look up some hardcore KOREAN matches of StarCfaft on youtube...the mess is nuts.

yeah i know about pro starcraft, rts online and such, i played starcraft before as well although i was really bad :) my cousin could smoke me with his eyes close, he always knew what i was gonna do, he knew where my zerg overlords were, my dropships were always welcomed with a platoon of troops and such... but lets focus on FPS online.
