I do ebay buying all the time and never had a single problem. probably had over a thousand transactions. besides this is half a million dollar.
That's true, but a half million dollar bid is a different story. This guy clearly has been collecting for a really long timeHeirrenI am not questioning the authenticity of his collection, just simply saying I would prefer to see some feedbacks from the potential seller. Not sure if it is just me, but 0 feedback on Ebay just gives me that uneasy feeling.
I have mentioned this before but I have a feeling auctions like this tend to get completed outside of eBay. Some guy posts his giant collection on eBay and it gets posted on every gaming forum on the web. It amounts to a bunch of advertising for whatever the price of the eBay listing is.
I also think sometimes people do it just to show off.
Something this large you couldn't drop it off at UPS. You'd probobly have to hire a company to pick it up or pick it up yourself with a truck. If you have $500k to spend on this shipping wouldn't be an issue. If I were seriously interested I'd hire someone to do an aprasial before I shelled out that kind of cash.
While it would be very cool to buy this, there is no way the entire collection is worth over half a million dollars, not even close. I looked at the entire collection and at the most it looks between $75-thousand to $150,000 at the most. Again, not shabby, but way, way overpriced. Also, it would take all the fun out of hunting down games and collecting if you just bought all these at once.

he has like 100.000 games? average 10$, because he has games that are singlehandly worth thousands of dollars like his neo geo stuff. it's easily worht 6 figures

The listing says he has about 6800 games, and several hundred consoles, controllers and accessories. Even if you do average each game at $20 a piece, it still doesn't even amount to $150,000. The guy is hoping some rich gamer will be overwhelmed by the scale of his collection without knowing what it's actually worth. People have done this in the past and made hundreds of thousands off people's ignorance.

Yeah, 550k is optimistic at best. Averaging out the games at $20 is probaly generous, even taking into account the Neo Geo AES stuff.
Still, it's an impressive collection. I wore out my scroll button getting to the bottom of the page.

I hope he didn't plan on paying off his mortgage with that.
It's pretty unlikely that there's someone out there with half a million ready to spend it on old video games. It'd be far more time consuming, but the only way to make money from that collection is to split it up and sell smaller quantities of specific selections of the collection. That way he might actually get someone who wants to spend $5000 on rare Sega or Nintendo stuff etc. I couldn't possibly value the whole collection, but I seriously doubt he'd be able to get more than 50k for the whole lot if sold in smaller quanities and it'd take years to find the buyers.
The seller also has a feedback score of "0". I don't think anyone is gonna gamble that kind of money on a seller with a score of "0".
That doesn't mean anything. This is simply someone trying to sell his collection, and deciding to use eBay as a vessel. The seller also has a feedback score of "0". I don't think anyone is gonna gamble that kind of money on a seller with a score of "0".

The seller got no feedback, wouldn't trust this guy even if the price was reasonable.

clearly this is real. see all the photos
Go bid then, I'd never buy from anyone with no feedback and nobody did either!
I had a look at the PDF he's supplied and i'd say, $550,000 is a reasonable price for all that. If i was rich, i'd buy it!
Because even the bits i don't want could be intelligently grouped and sold off again and regain that price, without losing the parts i am interested in.
Just look at the amount and variation of NEW consoles he has.
-
The only stumbling block mentally is this:
Price = $375,000. Given the choice between the two, i'd have the car.
But if i was rich enough to afford that, then i'd likely be able to have the game collection as well. :D
Lol. Really puts things in perspective, doesn't it. Heck you could also buy property and build a cabin!I had a look at the PDF he's supplied and i'd say, $550,000 is a reasonable price for all that. If i was rich, i'd buy it!

crazy, but Im sure somebody will eventually go for it if he puts it on Ebay enough times.
and yeah , Id rather buy a house,
Someone already bid but with auctions like this in mass amounts of money, I figure there's more chances of someone winning and not paying than usual/crazy, but Im sure somebody will eventually go for it if he puts it on Ebay enough times.

Or it could be somebody trying to con you and deciding to use eBay as a vessel. That's the problem with a "0" feedback, you just don't know.
I might take a chance on a $5-$10 game with a guy with a feedback of "0", but I think that anyone that decides to spend thousands of dollards on a guy with a feedback of "0" is a taking quite a gamble and making a pretty dumb decision.

I'm with Emerald on this. I wouldn't gamble $50 with a 0-feedback user, let alone $550,000 . . .
