Just wondering once the new generation of gamers arrive to the forums, how does there opinion matter to veterans whos been playing 10+ more years of video games. There game library would not be as wide as people 20+ years old who have been playing games since the nintendo days. I can bet that majority of kids under 14 have probably never played a nintendo or sega before. Do there opinions really matter to us older gamers?

Indeed, this is capitalist america and every little kid can tell you which game owns which game and even curse your mother after all. I'm totally angry with the 16- fanboys that worship Crysis all the way without having even touched a XX century console.

Well yeah their opinion matters. And some of these new generation kids may want to see how classic games were and get them somehow, perhaps through the Wii's virtual console.

It just really bothers me when you see a bunch of 14 year old kids saying MW2 is the greatest shooter ever made. Then you try to agrue with them and they just start whining and screaming in the mic....I want to punch one of them in the kneecaps...

I for one think its hilarious that gamers from "my day" (Im twenty eight) act like crotchedy old-timers when it comes to the new generation of games and gamers. Nostalgia clouds our perception of the games we used to play (and yes, I still play and love a ton of games back to the 8-bit era), and taints our perception of new games. That people (even ones posting here) knock newer gamers who "think MW2 is the greatest shooter ever", simply because they never got past loving Goldeneye is an odd hypocrisy. Ive been playing MW and Gears 2 when I want a shooter lately, and decided to bust out the 64 to see how it holds up. It doesnt. Other than the fact that Goldeneye paved the way for MW, MW is superior in every single way.

Im not convinced I would like as many old-school games as I do had I not grown up with them, though Ive met a few newer gamers who love vintage games. Every era has had its highs and lows, and the newer generation has the benefit of years of garbage passing them by. I would say that their opinion now matters more than ours, and no amount looking down our crooked old noses with contempt will change the fact that games are getting better than ever. Not all of them, but todays highs are way more thrilling than yesterdays....in this old %#$@#%'s opinion, at least.

I don't care what age a person is, as long as they can make an intelligent and rational argument for whatever they believe. There are plenty of folks my age and older who have irrational opinions not worth listening to. The younger gen suffers with the same misguided downfalls as we do since they learned from us.

No more different than between gamers who have been gaming for 20+ years and those who have for 10. I just go with the flow.

No, there opinions don't really matter to me. They are the people that will say that Bioshock, FF13, and MW2 are the greatest games ever with the best story, atmosphere, and gameplay. I've been playing for 16 years.

That was the first FPS I played when I was around three, a lot of fun. Shame I can't play it now without making myself feel sick.

Of course their opinion matters, that said we don't needlessly agree with them.
