The New Mortal Kombat ...

I know it has been out for awhile, but I recently picked this up used at my local Gamespot and I think the game is great. It is basically a remake of MK 1, 2 and 3 all put into one game which is pretty cool. I love the fact that they went back to 2-D because I didn't like any of the newer ones where the story doesn't really make much sense.

Just beat the story mode today and I think overall it was a great game, but it is a little bitter sweet that there are no playable bossess and no Motaro.

ya its a great game especially when you have friends to play against or with.

I'm playing it right now as well. I normally hate fighting games but for whatever reason I'm really enjoying this one. I'm making my way through the ladder and challenge tower at the moment. I'm trying to find a fighter that works for me to go online with but I'm undecided. I like Jade and Kabal though so far.

When I picked it up, I initally enjoyed it. Then the more I played it, I found the fighting system to not be fluid, but stiff. The combos would come out a second later and not right at that moment, which was irritating. I also remember playing the story mode and completing it in ONE SETTING. No breaks, no nothing. I was riveted by the story and wanted to get through it without taking breaks, so I'm glad I did that.

****SPOILER ALERT*****

They changed some things that I didn't like, for example sub zero becoming a robot instead of smoke. I think they did that because smoke was basically a carbon copy of scorpion with some different moves and he had scorpions spear. When he was a robot, he has the spear, but it was a unique looking trident shape, but who really knows for sure.

Also, I don't know why, but they keep making Kintaro more and more cat like and because of this he keeps looking more and more stupid. Personally, I thought Kintaro was supposed to be bigger and stronger than Goro, but in here they appear to be the same size. Mortal Kombat I 2 and 3 (maybe even 4) I feel are cannon, but with Armageddon and Deady Alliance I feel they went a little too far with the stories.

And again, I don't like the fact that you can't play any of the bosses (Kintaro is my fav) and its shame that Motaro isn't even in the game. Aside from that the game istelf is awesome and Shao Kahn is a badass, I love the fact that he says his original lines when fighting from Mortal Kombat II. Bottom line this basically is a remake of I, 2 and III combined. They probablly could have included 4, but that is apparently where the next story will go.

I didn't really want to get the game because of the online pass... I'd like to get it now, but can't because I don't have the money... I plan on it eventually, as long as a bunch of other games that came out this year.
