It looks like the whole thing might be a big misunderstanding due to another device. I wanted to post this in system wars, but my level isnt high enough. Can someone else do it?

I wonder why news sites like Gamespot and IGN don`t want to post on any positive news, but only the bad?

This article makes sense. It look like everything will be very simular to the PS4, but MS have their way of doing it.

Anybody who ever thought the new Xbox would require you to always be online just to play games is a moron. All you had to do was think about it logically for all of 10 seconds to figure that out. But hey, I guess it's more fun for people to mindlessly jump on every negative rumour no matter how ridiculous it is.

Agreed. At this point a statement in either direction is just rumor/speculation.

Would you like to go and tell every single person who believes the always online rumours to be true a moron? Including me? Until it's confirmed I'm believing it's true because this is MS after all. The same company who charge for online play, fill their dashboard full of ads and gave us Kinect.

I wouldn't say they were morons. All YOU have to do is think logically for 10 seconds and realize the disturbing trend the industry is heading. Even with the online DRM debacle that was Diablo III, EA still released SimCity and that mess was even worse. Companies are trying to push the limits on this. Also remember that MS made the 360 broadband only, reducing the amount of people who could play online. Granted, that's a different case than an always online console, but it shows that MS has banked on everyone having some sort of high speed connection. You'll also have to consider the fact that these rumors have spread for months. Clearly, if MS was not planning anything like this, they could have easily come out and denied the rumors. Then, there's the recent Adam Orth incident. The newest reports about the new Xbox still don't shed enough light on it to be considered confirmation of anything. People have good reason to believe these rumors are true, as they have had plenty to think about.

I've always doubted the rumors, just because it's completely ridiculous. But, with more and more sources suggesting it's true, it's been making me wonder. I still have my doubts, but I kind of agree with you. I saw an article similar to that the other day, and have been wondering why GameSpot hasn't jumped on it yet. After all, GameSpot loves to post every little rumor they run into, especially every single often irrelevant rumor regarding the next Xbox requiring always online. I think it will be a few more months before we know for sure. I doubt it will be fully addressed at the console's official announcement.

Yes I would like to tell you that. Think about it. It's not something Microsoft could do even if they wanted to. They would be conceding defeat in the console war. Microsoft sell 360's in countries where they don't even provide Xbox Live. Are they going to just go ahead and concede defeat to Sony in those countries and not release the next xbox? There's plenty of places all over the world that either have bad internet or no internet. Microsoft would be absolute morons to release a console that requires an internet connection to function.

Hate Microsoft? Go right ahead. Think Microsoft are idiots? Very ignorant of you. Yes they charge for Xbox Live. Smart business decision. They make a ton of money off it. They fill the dashboard with ads. They make a ton of money by doing that. They released kinect. Kinect made Microsoft a ton of money. All smart business decisions. If making the next xbox requiring online would make microsoft tons of money I'm sure they'd do it. But the fact is it wouldn't. It would make the next xbox flop. And flop badly. They wouldn't even be allowed to release the console in certain places! Microsoft are not this dumb. So I say again. Think about it.

So basically it's ok in your book to not give a damn about about what the gamers and your customers want, as long you milk as much money out of the console as possible. After what they've done with the 360 I find it hard to believe MS will just do a massive u-turn and make a console for proper gamers, rather than all the casual crap they've been drip feeding us.
