Crash Bandicoot co-creator: 'I'd love to see an HD version' from BeefJack website:
The Jak and Dexter HD Collection is out this month (February 2012), and co-creator Andy Gavin wouldnt mind seeing another one of his beloved franchises return in HD form.
Speaking in an AMA on Reddit, Gavin said that hed love to see Crash Bandicoot return in HD or as a reboot, but that he doesnt have any say on the matter. The rights to the game have long been out of his and Naughty Dogs hands, so itd be up to Activision to make it happen. He said: I would absolutely love to see a HD version of the first 4 Crash games for the PS3. And, even better, a really great fully modern PS3/XBOX reboot.
But I dont control any of the rights anymore but Crash is still my boy in his own way. Sony & Universal (which is now Activision) both own parts of Crash. Sony/Naughty Dog (which is owned 100% by Sony) own all of J&D and they can do whatever they like with it.
Crash Bandicoot appeared on our top 100 games of all time list, and that may have had something to do with the fact its my favourite game of all time. If the platformer returned in HD, Id be first in line to buy it although the standard version suits me just fine for now. ''The others what they said''

Naughty Dog co-founder and recently appointed THQ president Jason Rubin is hopeful that Crash Bandicoot can be returned to his former glory by Activision.
Although Rubin believes there hasn't been a solid Crash game since Naughty Dog's final effort in the franchise Crash Team Racing in 1999 research says the character remains hugely popular.
"He is still a very endearing character with a huge fan base," explained Rubin. "In 2010, I looked at Crash's Q Scores - rankings done by a third party for every major intellectual property. Crash does incredibly well for a character that has had such a long hiatus from the spotlight. This is especially true with adults 18 to 49. Those that remember playing Crash remember him fondly."
And despite leaving Crash behind all those years ago for Jak and Daxter, Rubin hasn't given up on seeing another quality game staring the bandicoot.
"When Activision merged with Vivendi Universal - itself a merger of Vivendi and Universal Interactive - the Crash rights passed to Activision's hands," said Rubin. "I have high hopes that they will someday dust off Crash and bring him back to his original glory."
