It is good for some type of games but not all. Free2play is just a marketing name it is a pay to gain like other games are. It is just different what you gain.

I'm ok with it to an extent. I'd rather just pay for my game up front rather than being nickel and dimed for what can easily amount to more than $60. F2P should be set up more like you get a base version of a game (as is now) and then have the option to buy the full game rather than buy parts of the game (basically, make the F2P mode be like a demo so then you just have to pay full price to get the full game).

As is now I have little interest in F2P games, but that's just me (I'm not a big fan of MMO style games and have found that I only play a very select few games online, which is what the F2P model seems to be focusing on).

I wish people stopped calling them Free2Play and called them with their real name: Pay2Win

Yeah, because the ones where none of the things you can buy have any effect on gameplay balance are so pay to win. . .

It will be a model that continues to rip consumers off in a major way and I will continue to avoid them.

F2P games were around years ago and it's just now that they're getting in the spotlight because indie games are their economic neighbor (pricewise). Most get funds from the good stuff in the games being for sale only and when calculations are done, buying everything in the store costs more than a new current gen game. Is it worth it? You decide.

games like that have been here for years, Neverwinter and other games did it years ago, it's just that gaming has become so big now that it finally gets some attention and some try to exploit it and other try to do good stuff with it just like any other game
