Hey Guys,

I would love to know what everyone thinks is the most "terryfying blood curdling and frightening from beginning to end computer game" ever made.

My vote is "Condemned Criminal Origins".

I don't know why, but I packed quite a few pairs of underpants during the playing of this game.

Any thoughts on anything that could be better?

:)

The Silent Hill, Fatal Frame and Condemned games are the only games I can say actually scared me and I've played quite a large selection of horror titles.

I found the pshyocogical elements found throughout all the games to be pretty unsettling. They all maintain a good layer of tension throughout, which is pretty rare these days.

From those that I have played, FEAR and Condemned.

Hope I get to try out the Fatal Frame series once in my life cos the trailers themselves scare the crap out of me

System Shock 2. I've only played the demo, and it still scared the crap outta me. I'd hate to think what the rest of the game is like.

Also, the Thief games. In particular, The Shalebridge Cradle in Thief III. Many believe it to be the scariest game level of all time

I'd have to say resident evil remake.

To surport the game was it's graphics and sounds, which were brilliant. The tense of going down quiet corridors with windows, and then suddenly one or two zombies jumping through, in the moment you dont expect it! The game really does make things tense, and scary.

There's other scary games, but this game just has alot of scary factors in it.

I am a 24 year old who loves horror. I have played all the above listed games and more yet Fatal Frame 1 & 2 are the only games I have played that actually scared me. I refused to play them on my own.. :P

I have to say Trespasser, to the point where I couldn't even continue playing it, it got my heart racing so fast. No game has ever been able to portray such a sense of helplessness at that game, since you usually play a superfreak or crazy marine or whatever.

I know this is NOTHING by today's standards, but stuff that jumped out at me in Alone in the Dark (PC) was the last survival horror I could stomach.

there's nothing scarier than playing the call of duty series. imagine yourself getting out in the warfield only to get shot by those nazi soldiers. these "real" people who kill for a living are scarier than unreal ghosts / creatures / flying cows. i found a cheap copy of call of duty 4 over at renchi dot com. those guys have awesome fast shipping... faster than those bullets coming from my comrades.

Alone in the Dark 2, Fatal Frame (Project Zero in europe) 3, and Forbidden Siren are games I could not play to the end.

That said, Clock Tower for PS1 (Clock Tower 2 in Japan) was a game I could barely start. I never got past the very first scissorman section because I was literally screaming and had to run out of the room and get my mum to turn the console off (i was like 10 at the time, but even now it unnerves me to the point I cannot play it)

Also Ripper, the old puzzle game centered around some sort of reincarnation of Jack the Ripper in the future. Cant remember much about it I was very young at the time.

I got more than a fair few scares with Silent Hill on the PS1. That said, I was about 14 at the time.

I don't know about you guys but the only time I was genuinely terrified was when playing Resident Evil Remake. Everything is so unsettling and you're always expecting the worst when walking through the dark corridors. Once I played on a sunday, the clock was near 00:00, I kept playing and playing, and all of a sudden the clock was 04:10 and I totally forgot about sleeping properly for school. Needless to say I was tired the next day.

That said, I've yet to play Silent Hill.

I found myself changing my underwear in a scared way, after playing all of the following -

The Project Zero (aka Fatal Frame) trilogy

Haunting Ground (like, holy crap - right from the start the context is completely twisted !)

I really enjoyed the creepy atmosphere for the Resident Evil remake

Also, the first two levels of Clock Tower 3 are excellent..... er.... I don;t know quite what they were thinking with the other ones, especially the crappy scissor siblings :P the first two are unhinged though, I really liked the first half of the game !

:D Also, you get to see a crappy little posh girl being smacked with a sledgehammer by a big grunt a lot, throughout the first level - *bonus* haha ! do i get to say that here ? (looks around depravedly) gehehe ;)

Doom 3, i know people trash it all the time for not being scary but i dont get it, with the right gamma options, maxed out graphics and suround sound i found it far more scary than F.E.A.R or even the underground and chernobyl parts of S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and no game has surpased its detail when it comes to level design and atmosphere yet imo
