hey guys i was thinking of getting a X-Box 360 after all these years, i saw that a refurb from gamestop is $119 with wired controllers or $129 for wireless controllers, i really dont care if i get wired or wire less.

what i want to know, can i play old X-box games on the 360?

heres a link to the refurb 360

http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/consoles/xbox-360-system-with-wired-controller-gamestop-refurbished/43323

also no fanboys please, just answers. i know who is trying to be a fanboy and who is not.

i can care less for the RROD ill only be paying $119 for it so i can dealwith the loss if it RROD on me. and i know refub are not new consoles, but i bought a refrub PS2 and had my PS3 sent into to SONY so thats a refurb too and thats been 3 years ago.

If you buy a refurb 360 from a game shop ask about the hardware and the warranty. Early model 360s were notorius for fried GPUs, mine had to be repaired twice.

As for Xbox games on an Xbox 360, check this list:

Getting old consoles is always a great idea because of the lower hardware price and the large library of games you can get dirt cheap.

uhhhh guys didnt i just said i have a PS3 and a Wii? what otehr console is there to get? that Lenovo console, oh wait better yet you guys want me to say that ill get a OUYA right?

plus i play mostly play on the PC, and the reason i want a 360 now like whatBigboi500 said, the 360 been our for so long, and its dirt cheap to pick up a console thats is close to its life cycle and the games. I always wanted to play Ace Combat 6 but couldnt becuase it was only for 360, and always wanted to play Ghost Recon 2 for the X-box but didnt have a X-box back in the day. trolls gotta stop trolling and learn to read.

Some original Xbox games don't work on the 360.

I was a little disappointed when I popped in Crazy Taxi 3 and getting an error, but most games should work fine.

If you want to play original xbox games you should just buy an actual original xbox. There dirt cheap now and you won't have to worry about them not working. Then sell your Wii and upgrade to Wii U since its backwards compatible and you get a brand new console at launch which is always awesome.

I've had my 360 for 5 years now and after Halo 4 i'm pretty much done.

well i just went ahead and bought a brand new one. it was a holiday bundle that came with 2 wireless controllers, a charging controller bay along with rechargeable batteries, the 250GB 360, Skyrim, and Forrza Motosport 4, all for $249. i was going to take the refurb one, but then again i said what the heck, just get the holiday bundle, and on top of that its the new smaller version of the 360 now the big old one.

also abotut he Wii, i can care less about the Wii. only reason i bought the Wii is so i can play Super Smah bro Braw, and thats about it. my brother only usesthe Wii to play Rock Band, or when my moms friends comes over, its a good way to keep her kids busy. so in other words the Wii means nothing to me, and im not planing on getting a Wii U either.

Never buy a used 360. Period. The system failure rates among the 360 (not counting the slim models) is the highest in gaming history and one of the highest among all products in the world.

That being said get a slim model, also I assume you have another system already (like a PS3), if you do then look at the exclusives for 360. If you think they justify the purchase then go for it, if you don't have another system then the 360 is a good system to get. Just look at the overall package.

Also you will have to pay for XBL. So that is something to consider.

well lucky for you i do have PS3, and a stupid Wii. like is aid before im a PC kind of guy but i just want a 360 to play a few games that i always wanted to buy that never came out on the PS3 or PC. ( Gears of War 2 and 3, Ace Combat 6).

but yeah i bought the holiday bundle pack, which came ( if you read the post right above yours).

2 wireless controllers, a 250GB "slim" 360( i dont see what is slim about it its just smaller but not slim like the PS3 slim or the PS2 Slim), 2 rechargeable battery packs along with the charger, a racing game and Skyrim. for $249, which i think its not bad, BUT i forgot the BIG down side for having a 360 is the stupid $50 Xbox live,

Xbox Live is a bit pricey but there's a lot of stuff on it. If you bit the bullet and bought a 360 I'd say don't look back and just enjoy it. I've certainly had many hours of enjoyment with mine.

30 bucks a year is not that pricey, unless you're crazy enough to pay $60 a year directly to microsoft instead of getting a 12 months card off amazon. Still, if it didn't offer party chat I'd see no reason to pay even those, since you get absolutely nothing free of charge for being a gold user, unlike PS+

Good choice. It's a great system with an excellent library of games. You were very smart getting a new one instead of a refurb as well.

If it's a refurb like others have mentioned make sure it's newer. When I got rid of my 360 and switched to a PS3 it was because of the fact that I had an older model and it red ringed at least 4 times. It worked at the time I sold it at least :P But for how long? who knows. From what I've read the newer models behave a lot nicer, but read up on what you're buying first :)

You would probably be safe if you bought a refurb Slim model 360. They are very reliable.

However if you live in the U.S. just wait and pick one up a new one for a few bucks more during a Black Friday sale.
