this pretty much explains why I don't like RE4 and 5 at all. I know they are not bad games, there just not like the RE games I grew up with.

Haha, I haven't kept up with the RE-series since Code Veronica, but it looks like Gears of War-ripoff or something. Doesn't look like it has much to do with the original Resident Evil, which could've been fine if it did not also seem to be a boring game. The only thing reminiscent of the original Resident Evil seems to be the characters; certainly not the atmosphere and the gameplay. This is a third-person shooter; not much here to see for me of for any other Resident Evil fan.

From watching the video I gather that the whole franchise is hyped to the skies by fanboys who for some reason see a need to defend anything with the RE name on it, so that if someone wants to criticize it in a constructive way he has to have the decency to be tactful - if not even apologetic.

Well, I'm not going to moderate my criticism: Stop sucking up to Capcom, I say. This looks (OK, so it has good graphics, whatever) to be a run-of-the-mill shooter with bad atmosphere and unengaging gameplay to me. I'll just call it a turd for now and move on and get back if I ever run out of interesting games to play.

Actually RE4 came out before GeoW and the GeoW dev team admitted that they based some aspects of GeoW off of RE4 (such as the over-the-shoulder view).

Angry joe is cool, We all agree that re4 and 5 are nothing like the first, id love to rant along in this thread and tell you all those things i didnt like about re4 but i done it so many times, anyway drop the non horror zombies and the dynamites and traps and bring back the old re games.dakan45

I stopped watching his video a few seconds in just because his sucking up was so painful to watch (I'd recommend this game to anyone, and there are a lot of things it does well, and I'm not saying its a bad game, and if it were a woman, I'd make sweet love to it :P ). RE5's gameplay was broken, and for some of us, gameplay's important.

RE4 being different from the rest of the series isn'ta problem since Capcom ran the series into the ground years before RE4 hit. And the only thing that inspired horror in the old RE games was the acting.

I simply don't remember well enough, because I didn't play RE4 or 5 (but I did play Gears of War) and RE4 and GoW weren't released that far apart.
