I loved the SNES but PS1 trumped it and the PS2 trumped both afterwards.
In my honest opinion, the PS2 is the best system of all-time so far...note I said, "so far," meaning, like past systems, they will be trumped. But the impact the PS2 had was huge. It's going to take a long time before the PS2 is dethroned.
But the snes had all the third party support to GO ALONG WITH nintendo's own games. The PS1 and 2 never had any games made by nintendo.UT_Wrestler
True, but the PS2 has the largest library ever and there are just so many great games that are just as good, if not, even better than Nintendo's first-party. Besides, the best Super Mario games was from the NES, not the SNES.
The best of Nintendo's first party is across all their systems, not just down to one. Ocarina of Time may blow away all the PS2 games, but that's a N64 game, so that doesn't count when you compare the SNES with the PS2 obviously. So in comparison to which system was greater, the PS1 even out trumps the SNES. And the PS2 took Sony even further.
Nintendo may have made the best games in the world, but they're not all from the SNES era.
Also to note, it wasn't Nintendo's first-party that made the SNES great but games from Square and Capcom made it great. But when Square moved to Sony, Sony's systems surpassed the SNES.
