So. You kept it? Causing an inventory discrepancy and probably getting an employee in trouble? Yeah. That's a great story. All I can say is: What comes around goes around.

Rarely find gamestop employees that really seemed to care about the job or even try to hard. Honestly the worker should get in trouble since its his mistake. If he didn't then he would possibly keep on doing it costing the company money and time.

So? You should still return it. I found a brand new camera on New Years Eve. I forgot to do anything with it at the time, because I was going for a walk with a girl, but today I handed it into the local police office. I always feel good after I do something like this. You should do the right thing too.

to tell you guys the truth, alot of the gamestops i go to actually have good employees, i usually talk to them and even have conversations about classics of genesis and playstation one. mind you i find these employees at the more smaller stores thats outside of malls compared to the ones inside big malls.

Doesn't justify this in the least.

The lesson still could be learned by a simple act of courtesy on the part of this topic's creator.

Walking out with and keeping a $60 game instead of a $30 game and then coming into a forum to gloat about it...? Not cool. At all.

First off, you DIDN'T pay for it. L4D2 costs about double what L4D1 costs at the moment, so you essentially ripped the store off for $20-$30.

Secondly, I think most of us don't give two craps about ripping off a major store chain for a few bucks. But we're not talking about a store chain here. We're talking about an individual person possibly losing their job for missing cash out of the register. People DO get fired for making mistakes that cost the company money.

Just because it wasn't your mistake doesn't make it any less your responsibility for speaking up when you find it. It's called integrity.

I guess today was your lucky day. If you decide to keep it that is up to you, you don't have to return it if you don't want to.

One time, in the summer of 09, I was holding a copy of Shadowrun and Conan for the 360. Both of them were brand new, in my hand (because they were bargain bin stuff at Gamecrazy.) As I was paying for my purchase, I still had the copies in my hand, and subconsciously walked out with them. I had the game that I bought, and two games they didn't even know I took.

I sat in my car thinking about if I should return it. It took me 30 seconds before I got out of my car and gave it back to them, apologizing that I took it out of the store on accident. He said "Oh, wow! I didn't even notice." I guess. Needless to say, I feel like I didn't miss out on much with those games. Do the right thing.

I would have pointed it out. No question. It's the honest thing to do. It's like telling someone that they gave you a $50 bill instead of a $20 in change.

Well this gives you the power to be greedy or give it back, because if the company.. gamestop loses money, they slash jobs from young people that work there.

Anywhom, I swear I hate my gamestop, the clerk kept bugging me to buy a warranty for five times and then guess what he gets to the next customer without handing me the copy of the game after I had purchase it, WOW... and he even sweet talk my mental challenged friend into preordering a game. Saddd people.

This seems better suited to a blog post.
