Resident Evil 5, a third-person survival horror game wherein you'll play as Chris Redfield or Sheva Alomar (if you finish the game). It was released in year 2009 for Xbox 360, PS3, PC. It was also released for PS4 and Xbox one last year. This game sets in kijuju (if I were not mistaken), a place somewhere in Africa. What can I say about the gameplay of this game? The gameplay is similar to the Resident Evil 4's gameplay but they put slight changes in it like for example, you can play this game with a friend through co-op and the majinis in this game are way more aggressive than the enemies in the previous games. You can give items to your partner such as ammunition, recovery items (e.g. herbs, first-aid spray), and others except weapons unless if you are organizing items before you start the next chapter or start from the last checkpoint.

The storyline of Resident Evil 5 gets interesting continuously most especially when Chris found out that the person he thought is dead is actually alive (kinda cliche though) and surprisingly, Albert Wesker became more powerful than before because of the virus and there is his puppy (not in a literal manner), Excella Gionne. To cut the story short, Chris and Sheva killed Wesker using a pair of RPG (1 for Chris and 1 for Sheva) and the helicopter leaves to the area and inside, you'll see Jill and Josh aside from Chris and Sheva. In the gold edition of the game, if I were not mistaken, you can play the Lost Nightmares and oops, I forgot the other one but in this side story game or whatever it is called, you'll play as Jill or Josh (if you finish the game) and who can forget about the mercenaries mode? No one. Mercenaries mode has a variety of characters to choose. I prefer using Rebecca Chambers because she has a lot of recovery items and her starting weapons are good enough for area of effect (hopefully, you know what I mean).

If you are looking for a replay value, this game has it. You can replay all the chapters if you want to grind and collect all the emblems. You can also practice playing the Mercenaries mode and reach the highest score if you can just make sure you know where to find the time extend and the combo item or whatever is it called. At first, the camera angle is too horrible if you'll play it for the first time but as you play throughout the game, you'll get used to it. In the PC version, the frames per second (fps) are capped from 30-60 fps but you can set it to uncapped. In default, the frames per second is not capped so you don't have to worry about adjusting fps that you desire.

In Lost in Nightmares, you can change your camera angle to fixed camera angle, the camera angle used from the previous Resident Evil games, by interacting with the entrance door (I don't know how many times). The concept in this game are fresh as the other RE games but some parts of it were recycled concepts in my opinion. However, it is okay since these add fun to the game.

I guess I already said my pros and cons. Therefore, I'll rate this game 9/10.

Is there anything you want to add about this game?

Let us know in the comments section below! :)

Have a nice day! :)

This was my first and only Resident Evil game I've played. It's been a really long time since I've played it, but all in all I remember thinking it was a solid game. The movement and aiming was kind of awkward, but I was still able to beat it on Professional after doing a normal playthrough. I also remember it being more action than horror. The setting of the game probably factored into that as well.

But even though I liked it I don't have much interest in the franchise. I never got around to going back and playing 4. I was originally planning to play RE6 but I passed on it after playing the demo.

The last great Resident Evil. Series probably should have ended with RE5 as it finally completed the Chris vs Wesker story arc. The only thing missing was what happened between Chris and Jill after the events of RE5. It could have been explained with story DLC. It could have been put into RE6. Sadly, we really didn't get any of that.

I love this game. I would rate this one 8.5/10. I put more hours into it than RE4 (which I would rate 9.5/10) but that's simply because of the way they designed it. With the ability to go back to certain parts of a chapter and recollect treasure and weapons, to sell and upgrade your current set. Story was meh, just like RE4, and it didn't have a creepy vibe like RE4. The coop kinda killed it for me. It would be nice if they made the game for a solo experience, and have coop as an available option. Online mercenaries was a blast. I go back to the game about once a year just to get my fix.
Really fun game, but disappointing in some areas.

I played it and I really, really did not like it. It took all the elements of Resi 4 but without any of the imagination, slowed things down and added in a supporting character. Nope. It was the first Resi game I really disliked.

I liked it, I give it an 8.5. It wasn't as good as RE4 but it was way better then RE6.

It was great. I played through it with my wife...I dunno...3+ times. I just remember how nice it was having Res E 4 style, but that I could play WITH my wife, and she even got a female character to play as! She really like Shiva's boob bounce too.

Really great game. Inventory management could be a bit of a pain and when playing solo the partner AI could be a bit bothersome at times. However it looked good and played quite well and was highly enjoyable when playing with another person.

When I first beat it I thought it was aaaaaaight. The game play wasn't as tight as RE4's and the atmosphere wasn't as strong.

...but then I played co-op online with my buddy (over games for windows live no less *blech*) and I fucking LOVED it. RE 5 is a phenomenal co-op experience but an average single player one.

@rockfield: It 'can be' a pretty fun game, yet with bad A.I., some terrible cover shooting sections and forgettable bosses.

Compared to Resident Evil 4 is considerably poor quality, and that's not even factoring it focused far more on action than the previous games.

Many keep saying it started with Resi 4, however I heavily disagree. 4 had many areas that focused on a horrific atmosphere. And had many jump scares- First time a Plaga rips out the hosts head (during the night and rain), The chained Garrador that frees itself, Regenerators, and the last shocker Flame-man. And that's only naming a few.

Back onto 5, well I don't hate the game. Yet I find it the toughest to replay, graphically it's a looker and can be some light-hearted fun in coop. However as it stands it's a mediocre Resi 4 knock-off and a bad Resident Evil.

Was never a fan of the story in 5, yet I really didn't like Resi 6's story either. With all that said I think Resi 6, despite being the usual mocked game, is more fun to play in my opinion, just perk the QTEs out and prepare for a good game. But for Horror Resi kicks in the over-the-shoulder view? I recommend 4, Rev, and Rev2.

Not a good game to represent the franchise but a great game in general, I think without the RE name it would have gotten much more praise.

That being said, playing it solo, the game is nothing special. However playing co-op is a whole new experience, and for that reason I found myself replaying it alot with friends.

My rating: 9/10 (get some friends to play with and this games amazing).

Hated everything about it. Hated the daylight setting, hated the dimwit partner AI. Tried playing it with a friend, and we finished 1-1 with no desire to continue.

I dont know how old i was when resident evil 5 came out but it wasn't until years after the release that I learned that Resident Evil 5 was being called racist by a few reporters and people, at first I thought WHAT FREAKING HOW IS THIS GAME RACIST. Then i read various stuff and i guess some didn't like the idea of some whiteboi redfield killing black people, I guess even though its in Africa and all of them are zombies its still racist if a white guy is doing all the killing, I think thats why they made it a co op as well and gave you a black partner , I think everyone who got offended by it was just stupid but what did you guys think?
