What ur thought ? I have played the game for about 2 hours and i must say, it's pretty boring. Besides the beautiful drawn wonderland and some interesting monsters to fight, everything else is kindda lik dejavu for me. ANyone has the same thought ?

Yes, I would be interested on how people feel about this game too. The guy who reviewed this game also gave Duke Forever a 3.5. So, he has a credibility issue. I am hearing that it's not as great as the Original Alice that was release on the PC in the year 2000.

You couldn't just post in the topic on the first page with a nearly identical title? It's a great game, better than the original. I think the word your looking for is nostalgia, not deja vu. Deja vu is the word you use for shooters

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. $50 for this game, the original game, and all DLC? Count me in! It's unique, and a great change of pace from all of these shooters recently released. So far it's a solid 8.5.

The controls are solid, the art direction is great and there's a constant increase in enemy variety. Platforming is fun and has a more retro feel. There are a few alternative paths here and there and it isn't "automatic climbing" platforming like Assassin's Creed or Uncharted. The weapons are also solid and you have access to all of them all the time. You don't have to open your menu to choose a new weapon, so it makes the combat flow. Characters are memorable; Chesire Cat FTW.

With that said, some areas simply drag. While a brand new area is usually awesome and there are some levels that never lose the aesthetic charm there are other levels that are just boring. Exploring becomes almost routine, and while its fun to shoot pig snouts and find key holes it becomes predictable in a sense. The story is good but it doesn't really get going until later chapters.

Brilliant game, really enjoyed it. I made a topic about it earlier so not much more to say about it other then that. Oh there is one thing actually. HAIR! A game protagonist with freaking HAIR! Hair that moves! Breath of fresh air I am so sick of skin heads because it's easier on the designers.

It's overall a good experience, the battles and platforming work great and the minigames are fun. Also I like how you can find references on why Alice has some stuff in her fantasy. But there are also things that bug me, I hoped for more weird stuff in her fantasy and sometimes it feels like they badly wanted to increase the playtime which leads to some regions getting repetitive. They should have added one or two more regions so far (middle of chapter 4, the first part of chapter 4 fantasy is what I wanted to see more of: Just weird stuff). Dunno it's just the german version, but when Alice collects something she remembers it's extremly loud

I watched a preview for it the other night and thought it looked brilliant. I'm planning on picking it up especially since I heard it includes the original?

Started playing the game after finishing the first one, so far I'm enjoying it. Fighting those one eyed teapots is annoying though, they take a lot of punishment.

Definitely one of the more refreshing games of the year so far - and I'm glad it's a third person platformer for a change and wasn't turned into yet another FPS like so many games are these days.

I picked up the original recently, and I can't seem to get into it. It seems to require a lot of trial and error, so I don't feel particularly enthusiastic about playing it.

So my question for those who have played the second one: do you think I'd feel like I'm missing out if I jump ahead to madness returns?

Well missing out on the first might not create the same kind of connection from seeing Wonderland looking more healthy, as well as Alice's struggle with her mental health.

The second game has connections to the first game like a snowglobe memorial of a character from the first game near the beginning of the game and the remains of an enemy from the first game as well.
The first game is fiddly to play due to the FPSform of controlson a third person platformer, it takes practice to do well at it. I completed the first game this morning, took a fair amount of trail and effor which was a nice change form the usual hand holding of games today.

It's up to you though.

I also suggest you add the Madly Enhanced pack, which improves the visuals a great deal (including that of Alice & all models of enemies and other characters), weapons have ben re-balanced and a few gameplay features have ben polished up.

Hmm, sounds like the story does reference the first one enough to make it worth my while if I can overcome some of these annoyances. I'll see if a controller helps with the controls, what all this madly enhanced pack does and give the game another go. Thanks you two.

Hey thanks for the link. If they realease the original on Steam I would definitely try it out.

I really enjoyed this game play through... It was at times, as most people have been saying, boring. The artistic point of view is awesome!! I would play just so I could watch the scenery! The fighting scenes are pretty much the same every time, which adds to the, blase factor. I would def. recommend getting the DLC, it helps you a lot at times. The weapons for the DLC are also better. All in all I had fun with this game and I am actually playing it again for a second time as we speak.

Same here. I thoroughly enjoyed its visual art style. A beautiful artistic game, with so many dark themes. We could always use more platformers.

The art style is impeccable, the platforming is enjoyable, and it takes you to some very interesting places. Sadly the combat, while fluid and pretty looking, just isn't very fun. The game could have been better to me had there been less of an emphasis on combat, and more of an emphasis on puzzle solving.
