Well, I think it's time to move on from my PS2 and get into the world of the current gens and get a PS3. No doubt after hearing FF XIII may possibly be released in March it has caught my attention to check the system out. Is it possible there might be a special package or price cut around the Christmas/New Years time? (For Australia)
Also, what are some games I should look into? I'm mostly into (J)RPGs, racing, action/adventure and horror games.
Cheers,

It's not a possibility, FFXIII is definitely releasing on March 9, 2010 outside Japan. Of course being in Australia things could be a little weird for you. I don't know about any bundles, but they just had a price cut on the system when they introduced the Slim model with the bigger stock HDDs, so another is highly unlikely. Their top end model is a Slim PS3 with a 250GB HDD, and it's only $349, which is a steal, especially in comparison with a 599 US DOLLARS 60GB launch model. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bundle of it with a game for a $50 mark up, but that's your best bet in regards to a bundle. If you do get it though, as a horror game fan, you owe it to yourself to check out Siren: Blood Curse, you could get it off the Playstation Store, or import a retail copy. It's the best pure survival horror game released since Fatal Frame 2.

I'll be sure to check that game out :) They have a 120GB and for an extra $100 you get the 250GB. I mean really, who needs 250?!

Funny thing is, I thought this post was going to be about how PS3 software is finally coming into it's own. Still I agree, it IS time for a PS3. I think it will be the vanguard for hardcore gaming. Infamous, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Killzone 2, the Ninja Gaiden Sigma series, all examples of hardcore gaming at it's finest. Plus, with about 5+ years worth of technology to tap from the Cell processor I say again, it IS time for a PS3. :)

When the PS3 launched, I could barely comprehend how you could ever need or use 60GB. You'd be surprised. The HDD being universal in the PS3 means it gets used, a lot. A whole lot. Like, wow, why do all of these games have 5GB installs what is this I don't even... Plus their is essentially little to no file size limit for Playstation Store stuff, so when you download a bunch of games, including for me a 9GB game like Siren, or a nearly 4GB game like Burnout Paradise, space gets limited fairly quickly.

good idea. Even though a PS2 and the games are the most affordable on the market right now, they've cut off making PS2 games, making you stuck with the games that are already out. and BELIEVE me, the PS2 is notorious for having the most crappy kids games. Besisdes, it's good to stay next-gen, especially with all the new titles coming out.
