At about their lowest point they were like $79 new in my travels and you're right, they seem to be going up and up. So the question then becomes: What kind of a deal did you get on your slims?BlendThreeHi Needweed, you're obsession with the PS2 still doesn't make sense. 10,828 games lol. Btw, i can get a PS2 for $50, by walking down the street, and I can get one new for $70, for big stores. For little Stores I can get a new PS2 for the same amount I can get a new gamecube $35

You're outside the US if you're able to find factory-sealed PS2s still on the shelf...

That's true in my case :P I went to Radio Popular the other day and pick up some games, and saw at least 15-20 of them for 70 euros a pop. Didn't have the spare cash to put up one, I really want to get a backup PS2.Hi Needweed, you're obsession with the PS2 still doesn't make sense. 10,828 games lol. Na, theyre around. They just aren't advertised.its quite annoying, Amazon.co.uk currently sells new PS2s for £130...
yes, £130 , thats around 200 US dollars,
www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlayStation-Slimline-Console-Black/dp/B00023HUMG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346315789&sr=8-1
its really quite shameful that somone is selling a 12 year old console for this amount, and its what keeps me from buying a replacement PS2 for my original brick PS2 (which works most of the time, but Id rather have something that works all the time

I wish I could just wander into a store and find that many PlayStation 2 systems just sitting there! :O Here in Canada I haven't seen one for so long. If I did stumble upon a unit with luck one of these days, I think I'd actually buy it.

Your state=/=other states. They just aren't advertised, stores want to sell PS3's right? I wouldn't advertise cheap PS2's. Unless it was GS since those guys are greddy as heck. The last one I found in a store, I purchased. I travel for a living, roughly 200 days per year, and I don't see them in US retail stores. I don't know where anyone is seeing these systems in-store, so to anyone who claims to be tripping over them in their local electronics store, I say, prove it.Post a pic. Or give me the store's phone number, so that I can order one from them or pick it up next time I swing through town.
I ask, too. I don't just walk in and because I don't SEE them I assume they're not there. I ask if they have any "old-new" (factory sealed) stock, any laying around in the back room, proping a door open, holding a paper down in a breeze, etc.
If I could find another new PS2, I'd buy it.
(Certainly not for 130 pounds-sterling, but you take my meaning).
