This topic is directed to the youner gamers. The ones that maybe to young to remember the Atari, NES, SNES, and Genesis. We older gamers who were there from the start already know the history of big franchises and the like and have already voiced our opinions on everything countless times.

Im just curious too know what the younger gamers think are the best games ever (that they have grown up with), what they like and dont like and what they think of gaming overall. I guess itd go as far back as the PS1/N64 era but this includes people that maybe barely started gaming last gen with the PS2/Cube/Xbox.

How do you precieve the world of gaming? I imagine its probably much diffrent from us older gamers who are most likey a bit jaded by the fact weve played games all our lives and sometimes expect things to go a certain way.

I'm not 12 and under, but I did start with the N64 and PS1, so I'll go ahead anyway.

I've played NES games and other older games, and I'm usually not impressed at all. It's not because of the graphics, I don't have a problem with bad graphics, but the gameplay itself just isn't fun. Like the Mario games, for example (I'm going to get a lot of hate for this) aren't very fun to me. My first real video game was Pokemon Yellow, and my other first games were Super Mario Kart 64, Cruisin' the World 64, and Star Fox 64.

I'm waiting for a game like Star Fox 64 to come out because the other Star Foxes were not anywhere near as good as 64.

As far as games I like now, I usually have varying tastes. Racing games are usually fun, and Shoot-em-up games are fun too. I'm very picky when it comes to platformers (I really only like Castlevania series and the older Metroid games) and rpgs.

I also really don't like Metroid as a first person shooter, I much prefer it as a sidescroller.

Well I just turned 14 so I can relate to them.

One of my favourite games ever I would have to say is Half Life 2 for FPS and Tekken 3 for fighting.

I am always looked upon as a n00b when to comes to older gamers when they say stuff like 'you dont know crap about games' when actually I would know a lot more then they think.

My favourite game at the moment would be Bioshock, games I am looking forward to are scribblenauts and Batman Arkham Asylum.

Another thing, people my age only play games like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 and it really makes me mad when I say somthing like 'Hey you guys getting scribblenauts? and they just stare at me like im high on drugs' I have a friends who have never played an FPS before and call them self 'hardcore gamers'

About being spoiled I am not. I payed for my 360, PS3 and Gaming PC and buy most of my games.

Oh and people might think I know nothing about games but I love them and every day I am on gamespot.

So before you judge people remember me and how you can be a hardcore gamer and every age...even 60.

Don't you think younger gamers confirm date of birth with their parents dob to access restricted content like everyone, myself included when I was under 18. ;)

Exactly what I was thinking but for the sake of rules I'll give people the benefit of the doubt.

Thats why its not about us older gamers and what is considered "best" or "classic"....its seeing the gaming worldfrom a diffrent perspective.

You dont have to comment if you see something you dont like.

I started off with the PS1 and N64 but I've played older systems such as the SNES and Sega Genesis. The older games are fun but I find the newer games to be even more enjoyable. My favorite game is definetly MGS3

I'm 15, and I grew up on the Sega Genesis. My first game was Sonic 2. I also owned a Super Nintendo but didn't play it as much. When I was 5 or 6, our family got a Nintendo 64 and that's what our main system was till we got a PS2 in 2002.

As far as old school gaming goes, I can't find the drive to beat any games on systems older than the Nintendo 64. It's mostly due to the lack of saving ability and my dislike of the lives system. I only play them casually. I still continue to buy games for my Nintendo 64, most recently Jet Force Gemini, which I bought last week. I also own a Windows 2000 computer which I buy old games for. I bought Fallout a month ago.

My two favorite games are Resident Evil 4 and Half Life 2 and its episodes (If I can count them all as one game). I enjoy Resident Evil 4 for its replayability and intense gameplay. I love HL2 for its polish and variety in setpieces and challenges.

I can't provide much commentary on the way gaming is going, as I don't play a lot of current gen games. Mostly I buy older games I missed out on because they're cheaper. I wish the Wii would produce more mature games on par with games we see on the XBOX 360 and PS3. It has the potential, and I'm tired of getting games that are only good when you don't compare them to games on the 360 and PS3.

I'm 22 and I was in middle school when I got my N64 for Christmas. My fourth game was Ocarina of Time, so it has a special place in my heart. Overall, out of all the N64, PC and Xbox games I've played, my favorite (arguably best) game would have to be Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. There have been some awesome games that I have played, but that's the one that has shone above all of the others.

I was into the NES when it came out. Then I got completely out of gaming for nearly 20 years. About a year ago I bought the ps3. I am blown away by how much has changed. Im playing oblivion right now, and I can't even get my head around how much has changed. I feel like Im not even getting as much out of the game as I probably could because I just don't understand how much is possible now.

I'm not exactly young anymore, but since I only just turned 16, I think I still count. Anyway, I've been playing things like the NES and SNES as my first games. Then I kept moving up til I reached the 360, PS3 and Wii. I still have my N64, Genesis and DreamCast too. Not so much with my NES and SNES though, that got broken.

I thinkPSfanboy101 brought up some good points and ultimately I think that your age should have nothing to do with your appreciation for games. Should someone hang their head in shame because they weren't born when Chaplin released his first film? Or The Hobbit was first published? Of course not. If someone demonstrates a passion for gaming whether their favourite game ever is Gears of War or Asteroids should not matter, their joy and willingness to be a gamer and part of this fantastic industry is the only thing thing that should be considered.

Of course its always interesting to see what a younger generation may appreciate but I think ultimately a great game will be loved any gamer and in these universally appreciated games we can find common ground.

I'm 15, and I actually grew up with an SNES and a Sgea Genesis, and moved up. The games I feel most nostalgic towards are Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and Chrono Trigger.

I can't really say that I have a *favorite* game for this gen though. All of the games I have are great, but since most of them are focused on online multiplayer, I can't enjoy playing games by myself as I used to.

I think part of the problem is that if you have grown up in the 360 generation with the graphics and the overall game quality we now experience, it's hard to look back at some of the older games and truly appreciate them. There has to be some understanding of when they came out to appreciate some of them. Graphically and gameplay-wise, GoldenEye doesn't hold up as well today, but in it's time it was awesome. For those who started gaming in this generation, it's hard to appreciate what GoldenEye did and meant. Just like now, in the time of Peter Jackson and The Lord of the Rings, it's hard to appreciate the quality of some of thecla$$ic silent films. Or the poor special effects in Hitchcock's Psycho when there are some of the movies we see today.

I am 14 and I started playing the PlayStation ever since I could walk. I also like to look back at a video game timeline to see what came before I was born.

Here is a good video showing the younger generation the popular games of the older generation.
