OK. So I left that last post too soon. I just finished watching a demo of Phantom Dust, and from the 2.5 minutes that I saw, it appears to be more of an action/adventure, 3rd person kind of game... but hey, I guess so was Final Fantasy XII, so who am I to judge.

There is probably more than 10 just for that criteria. I dont really remember stories and stuff from books or movies or games. I enjoy them in the moment. I dont take any steps to burn them into my memory to where i can quote every line. So It would be extremely difficult to pick ten based on the story.

There are so many games that mix genre's. Like Naruto Uzimaki Chronicles 1-2 or X-men Legends 1-2/marvel UA.

true, true... but you can equip armor and get weapon upgrades... the 3/4 view was innovative, and set it apart from side-scrollers of the time, which gave it the feel of an RPG. Like I said, I'm not one to judge, I just wanted to get an idea of what RPGs are out there that I have overlooked. Classic style RPGs are my thing, and I'm always looking for new suggestions.

Awesome game, I love Phantom Dust, and nobody knows about it, but not sure if it's an RPG, close enough though, and you need to play Fable, it's one of the best RPGs last gen

It's sad that you feel that way because you're missing out on a great game, not to mention KOTOR I and II. It shouldn't be about who makes the console, but the games that define the console.

3) The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time (yeah yeah, it's more action/adventure; but whatever)

4) The Elder Scrolls III : Morrowind

5) Final Fantasy (yes, the NES version)

Yeah, it is more of an action adventure, (heck...on my collection it's classified as a scifi shooter o_0) but the non battle parts of the game definitely fit the RPG status. Plus it's too good of a game not to be mentioned.

I agree with _AbBaNdOn about New Horizons, it is one of the best games ever. It is more of a srpg, but it is an awesome game. Another game in that same category (IMO) is Ogre Battle, any of them you can find.

In contrast to _AbBaNdOn I think FF8 is a very good game.

Except for New Horizons and the Ogre Battle games, my top ten would change daily so those are the only ones I'll mention.
