Top 10 video game sound tracks

Well, that was a pretty spotty list. Sonic The Hedgehog in the top 10? Maybe in the top 100, but definitely not top 10 material.

If I had to choose my 10 best, it would be these (in no particular order);

• Jet Grind Radio
• Metroid Prime
• Xenosaga: Episode 1
• Chrono Trigger
• Final Fantasy IX
• Xenogears
• Odin Sphere
• Lunar: Silver Star Story
• Final Fantasy Tactics
• Final Fantasy VIII

Yeah, Jet Grind Radio's soundtrack ruled. Too bad a lot of ppl passed on the dreamcast, and this classic.

btw, has anyone heard of The Protomen? they're pretty rockin'.

their first and only CD tells the story of megaman and protoman (all original material)
and their second CD is an NES remix. all of the original songs if they were on NES (with some bass added for funkability i suppose)

Advent Rising had a great soundtrack. Awe-inspiring.

Freedom Fighters also had a good soundtrack. I still need to figure out how to get ahold of that CD.

As for licensed music, that'd be GTA: San Andreas by a landslide....

As for original music, I'd say the Kingdom Hearts series.

The music in Twisted Metal 2, Twisted Metal Black and Twisted Metal Head-On made each level feel unique and helped set the mood for each boss battle.

Vigilante 8's also helped fit the alternate 70's timeline they were going for.

Twisted Metal 2 had the best. The rest of those those were alright. I also liked Vigilante 8: Second Offenses soundtrack.

My favorite soundtrack is from Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow...

wow other then megaman and sonic i completly disagree with that list, it was just a bunch of commerciall sucessfully games, and thats it.

that game has an incredible soundtrack, when i play it actually fiddle with the options to take out all the sound effects so you only hear the music, i really dont know why that isnt mentioned more often
