It's a cla$$ic (because of both the good and the bad). ._.;
Why is it a point and click? Because it has puzzles? o.o Should we cancel out 2, , Silent Hill, Dino Crisis, etc then?

No, it hasn't aged well. The story is laughably cliche, dialogue being poor, and the gameplay feels a lot like an average PC adventure game.

No, it feels a lot like a point and click adventure. "You see a square shaped hole. It looks like it could activate something. Place the Jewel in the hole?" The only difference was that you didn't have to drag the Jewel from your inventory to the hole in question.

1. It doesn't give you the answer when you observe things it just describes what it is. "There is a square shaped hole." Then you take out your crank that has the square shaped end and use it.
2. No pointing and clicking. It's called a "puzzle."

Still, it has all the elements of a point and click adventure. Pre-rendered backgrounds, FMVs, one use items, very simple puzzles, etc.

by point and click, i'm assuming that you're talking about something myst'esque... so at that point i'd like to point out that nothing in any of the mysts has ever jumped through a window, and killed me, thus causing me to soil my 14-year-old self. i, personally, find that the one use items makes getting through the game more challenging which is a good thing as it is more rewarding in the long run. and also, "simple puzzles" is a relative statement. puzzles are different for everyone; for some a puzzle might be obvious, and take only moments to solve, but for someone else it might take hours. if you don't like that game, then you don't like it... but you're the obvious minority opinion, and your arguements aren't carrying the day.by point and click, i'm assuming that you're talking about something myst'esque... so at that point i'd like to point out that nothing in any of the mysts has ever jumped through a window, and killed me, thus causing me to soil my 14-year-old self. i, personally, find that the one use items makes getting through the game more challenging which is a good thing as it is more rewarding in the long run. and also, "simple puzzles" is a relative statement. puzzles are different for everyone; for some a puzzle might be obvious, and take only moments to solve, but for someone else it might take hours. if you don't like that game, then you don't like it... but you're the obvious minority opinion, and your arguements aren't carrying the day.sofaking_bob
Yea, pretty much Myst-esque. And there's another, similar game for the PC that will make your pants moist and darker: Alone in the Dark. And for the puzzles, how challenging can "stick the shield emblem in the shield-shaped hole" be?

well putting the shield in the shield hole is pretty difficult if you don't have or can't find the shield. the puzzles in resident evil are rarely one step... i.e. put the shield into the shield shaped hole. first you've got to get that shield. i personally don't think that the puzzles in resident evil are difficult, but i've walked many people through the game who thought different. but reguardless, being easy doesn't make a game a bad game. being simple doesn't make a puzzle bad either. tetris is a simple puzzle game... it took over the world.[QUOTE="sofaking_bob"]by point and click, i'm assuming that you're talking about something myst'esque... so at that point i'd like to point out that nothing in any of the mysts has ever jumped through a window, and killed me, thus causing me to soil my 14-year-old self. i, personally, find that the one use items makes getting through the game more challenging which is a good thing as it is more rewarding in the long run. and also, "simple puzzles" is a relative statement. puzzles are different for everyone; for some a puzzle might be obvious, and take only moments to solve, but for someone else it might take hours. if you don't like that game, then you don't like it... but you're the obvious minority opinion, and your arguements aren't carrying the day.Video_Game_King

The puzzle was actually to play the moonlit sonata on the piano and obtain the gold shield, but the problem was that the shield caused the path to be blocked so you had to grab the other shield in order to get out. ._.

I was using a generic example. I could've said, "Mix the blue potion and the yellow potion to make the green potion, just like it says in the manual right next to the two potions."
