here is a thread that I havent seen yet on Gamespot. here is mine

10) NES star wars - its random and hilarious
9) force unleashed - great concept, and great action. the problem is, its too short and the controls could be better.
8 ) KOTOR - alot of people will hate me for putting it this so low on the list. I just dont think its as good as people say it is
7) jedi outcast - considered by many to be the best of the dark forces series. alot of fun to be had with cheat codes here.
6) star wars battlefront 1 - this game blew me away. I had been asking for something like this for ages
5) rogue squadron - I havent actually played the later games in the series, but I know this one was amazing for the time.
4) star wars pod racer - one of the most adrenaline pumping balls-to-the-wall racing games I have ever played. check out the PC version. the levels and speed are still mindblowing
3) star wars battlefront 2 - a pure improvement over the first game. the only problem is the hero/villian crap, but they are optional anyway
2) super star wars (trilogy) - ****cs right here. they need no explanation to be this high
1) dark forces - an amazingly innovative game for its genre and I still consider it to be one of the best FPS games of all time. here is a GT video on it

Its such an underrated game too. seriously, I dont see what people liked so much about jedi knight. jedi outcast was great but honestly alot of it was boring and tedius. I wish lucasarts didnt cater to the whiny fanboys who pleaded for a lightsaber and force powers. the game was fine the way it was. I wish the series could have been purely FPS. the whole jedi concept could have been used for a different series altogether. also, people have tried to pan it as a doom clone. that is just asinine. doom wishes this was a clone of it. anyway, check out the video.

honorable mentions: shadows of the empire, lego star wars and republic commando

1. Tie Fighter

You can't have a list of Star Wars games without Tie Fighter or X-Wing or X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter

6. Rogue Squadron

I agree with Battlefront 1 over 2 simply because the maps in BF1 were a lot better.

Battlefront is my favorite, not sure I could narrow down the other 8.

In no particular order:

  • Rogue Squadron -- Just plain awesome in it's day. The first game I ever had the drive to 100%.
  • Pod Racer -- Great racer, there isn't much else to say.
  • Battlefront I & II -- I haven't played much of these titles, but I need to get ahold of them.
  • Knights of the Old Repbulic -- What can I say?
  • LEGO Star Wars II -- I actually really enjoyed this game.

1. Amiga Star Wars (fidelity to the 80's arcade)

2. X-Wing

3. Tie Fighter - I still have the Collector's CD-ROM Edition

4. X-Wing Alliance

5. X-Wing vs Tie Fighter

6. Dark Forces

I'll stop there. Those are the ones I bought and played.

top ten eh? well, here goes.

#1 -- TIE Fighter

#2 -- Knights of the Old Republic (the game that turned me onto the RPG genre. to this day, my RPG taste is still horribly picky)

#3 -- Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast

#4 -- Star Wars Galaxies, Pre-CU (took a while to learn, but man was it fun as heck once you did get all the nuances down)

#5 -- KotOR 2: The Sith Lords (better gameplay was marred by a less focused less epic story)

#6 -- BattleFront 1/2 (think the first one had slightly better maps, but 2 actually had battles in space)

#7 -- Empire At War (found the ground combat bland, but the space battles more than made up for it)

#8 -- The Force Unleashed (my only wish is that the whole game was as good as the first and last levels. still, get deserves a top 10 spot for the final boss fight*)

#9 -- Rogue Squadron 2:Rogue Leader (graphics STILL hold up today. best rogue squadron, nay, star wars console flight sim ever made)

#10 -- Republic Commando (I doubt we'll ever see a sequel, which is a darn shame. the squad combat was excellent)

* -- feel obligated to explain, I wanted a mano y mano saber duel with Vader since I saw the cover of Jedi Knight:Dark Forces 2 (the cover on my version of the game had Katarn fighting Vader, obviously, that's not the case in the game). granted, I'd had this duel in Super Empire Strikes Back . . . but that was back on SNES. I'm praying LA weaves a rematch into TFU2.

Mysteries of the sith and Republic commando for me. What was wrong with jedi knight 2? Way too much searching of what to do next.

I can't say that I have ten games. I also don't like Star Wars.... yeah.... I do want to replay KotOR though (I never got to finish it) so I won't add that game here just yet but these are my faves.

  1. Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II

And that's it.

I also enjoyed Shadows of the Empire for the N64, the original Rogue Squadron was pretty good, but the third one isn't. I played Battlefront but didn't like it. Bounty Hunter sucks. So I guess just Rogue Leader for me. KotOR may or may not pass it later on, but you know how BioWare is. :P
