One developer's LikedIn account has outed the development of the next installment in the FarCry franchise. Before you get scared: no, Ubisoft Shanghai will not make the whole game, they were involved in making additional content for FarCry 3 and Blood Dragon as well, so the core of the game will most likely still be made at Ubisoft Montreal.

Great news for all FarCry fans and here's the opportunity for a little wishful thinking: after Playing FarCry 3, what is your wishlist for 4?

I would like a darker tone, the return of the dusty&dirty feel from FC2 and please no more Jason Brody and his friends. I would also want more RPG elements along the line of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Deus Ex and Boiling Point, making the NPC and the economy more relevant.

Hmm, never got into Farcry 3 it was pretty boring.

So i would like a return to as you say a darker tone, also a more story driven game, not so much roam free and do what ever shit you want, it seem to retract from the developement of the story like in AC Black Flag.

Also please more variation in what you can do if they go with the same open world , killing animals and doing that is just boring the 1000th time.

I really enjoyed Far Cry 3, but it did have a few flaws.

Firstly, unlocking 'free' weapons by climbing radio towers - that effectively made it pointless to save up money for new weapons. I kept ending up with more money than I knew what to do with, and that was after customizing every weapon in the game. Secondly, the outposts you could capture were all rather generic, requiring the same set of tasks, and it would have been nice to see greater variety, including 'mini boss' encounters. Thirdly, NPC 'quest givers' and their tasks could have been fleshed out more. Lastly, it didn't make much sense that Jason effectively became Rambo within a very short space of time.

So those are the key things I would change. A new story, location and set of characters should be a given for Far Cry 4.

Wishlist:

A open world Dues Ex Human Reveolution type of Far Cry (set in the future like Dues Ex with the same stealth mechanics, not saying fc3 stealth was bad, maybe a fc3 DEHR blend), new cast of characters, try for a more interesting story, flamethrower that doesnt set you on fire when you use it.

Oh god, another "dark toned" game? Don't we have enough of those already? Nearly every game I see coming out has a dark tone to it. What's wrong with nice colors? Geez.

Bleh. As much as I like Far Cry 3, I can't bring myself to care about this news. Until they prove otherwise, it's just another pointless sequel.

I like your idea of making the game world more organic. FC3 felt organic on a micro level, but as a whole, you knew that nothing happened elsewhere on the island while you were running around doing your thing. And actually, I'd like a lighter tone. Make the series evolve towards STALKER-ness, but make it colourful.

@Black_Knight_00: I like Far Cry 3 more than Far Cry 2 and I agree with you that Far Cry 4 will be the next installment that will be made by Ubisoft.

I really liked Far Cry 3 a whole lot. Until the second island. Screeching halt.

Farcry 3 was one of those games I ignored for a long time as I was thinking it was another game for the battlefield, modern warfare crowd.

So wrong.

Really, really good. Enjoyed it more then Dishonored and Deus Ex.

I liked FC3, but certainly didn't love it. They need to improve a few things for it to be a day 1 buy for me.
