The PS3 come this November should have at least 6-7 million consoles in gamers hands, if not more - Sony thinks they'll have 14 million on the market by March 08. If they are even partially right, and considering what a huge game UT3 should be, I don't think UT3 will have any issues garnering plenty of support on PS3.
The game might sell 400K if it's lucky, 1/2 of that will never take it online. That doesn't even take into account the crowded FPS competition.
Resistance has sold 1.5 million+ copies and has a strong online community, so there are quite a few fps loving PS3 owners. If UT3 meets or exceeds the quality of Gears of War offline and offers a quality online modeI expect it will do quite well.
Speaking of competition, am I the only guy who suspects a big part of the reason UT3 isn't hitting the X360 this Christmas is because its makers want to avoid a direct face-off with Halo 3?
Epic has stated they're putting alot of effort into the single player this time, due to many gamers who solely play offline/don't have access to broadband. They want it to make it as enjoyable as playing online.
I don't know about UTIII not hitting this year on the 360 has to do with avoiding being overlooked because of the release of Halo 3. UTIII is sheduled to hit in November, with Call of Duty 4 and Crysis hitting a week next to each other I doubt that. I don't know, but it seems Epic and MS aren't in bed like they used to ( I think it was primarily due to the pricing of the new maps fiasco on XBL marketplace having something to do with it)
If you read one of the links highlighted, according to Rein the reason the new content on PC won't be available on the 360 due to the UE3 being different than the one they used for the 360, I'm no programmer but I think its bull...
