The topic title says it all. This game's ridiculously fun and polished, and yet it hasn't even sold above 500k copies -- in part, because it came out with competition like Fallout: NV, Fable III and CoD: Black Ops, and in part because it has no multiplayer (Co-op or otherwise). Am I really the only one with this opinion?

Valkyria Chronicles 2 probably sold less than 50k in NA, but it's still definitely one of the best RPG this year. Vanquish is nothing compared to VC2 (in terms of underratedness).

I wasn't at all impressed with Vanquish. I thought the gameplay was simple and kind of boring. It looked gorgeous and was fun while it lasted, but I took it back after about 2 hours. I'll get it again when the price drops significantly, but 8 hours of that just isn't worth $60 to me.

I'm to blame on that: loved the first, haven't bought the second one yet. Too many games, and having purchased AC: Brotherhood and Vanquished this month just post-pones that. It looks good, though.

The fun of the game is doing the challenges and getting good scores. If you don't like that kind of thing, than I can understand why you wouldn't enjoy the game.

Why did it have to come out on psp. That made me sad. I'll have to get one eventually.

I played the demo and it was ok. It just isn't good enough for me to buy.

Vanquish is a good game, but its very short (roughly six hours) and ends with a whimper rather than bang (the final enounter is just plain weak). Don't get me wrong, the combat is challenging and deep and some of the encounters are flat out awesome (my favorite enemy is the garbage golem) but there wasn't as game as there should have been.

Nah, Vanquish is just underrated. Its predecessor P.N.03 on the Gamecube is EPICALLY underrated.

For some reason I haven't been able to get into Vanquish. I've sat down with the game twice now for about an hour each time but haven't felt compelled to go back. I thinks it's because I haven't been able to get a feel for the controls yet which has resulted in some frustrating deaths, particularly to the big dude who can 1 hit you with his charged up laser. It's the sort of game I should like, so I'm going to give it another chance soon over the holidays.

I have plans on picking Vanquish up today. I was hesitant at first since I heard it is really short but the news of ME3 has me wanting to play a nice sci-fi shooter. How much of this game have you played? Is there replay value at all? I prefer not to buy games at full price when it is 8-10 hours long with no replay value other than harder difficulty settings.

The game gives you a score based on your performance, and there are online leaderboards. If you're not into speed running, getting high scores, or higher difficulty settings (which you've stated), I would recommend a rental. I haven't beaten it, or even gotten very far, but from what I've heard it's a short game (6-8 hours).

I agree it would have made a fine PSN or XBL title but as a sixty dollar disc there isn't enough there. I too will wait for a $15 to $20 dollar price point.

@juliankennedy23 Its not that bad, the challenges and God Hard difficulty alone will easily take you 10+ hours to complete. Besides, the game's so darn fun that you will likely be playing it again in a few months time.

I woiuldn't say it's underrated, Vanquished actually garnered some pretty positive critical reception, it's just it's not being purchased, is kind of crying shame, it'll join Bayonetta in the overlooked awesomeness to be delivered from Platinum Games

If it looked like Crysis, people would be making threads about it all day in SWs.

Given your tag I can see why you are promulgating the fiction that graphics drive sales on core consoles, but generally speaking and especially in Vanquish's case, that's a nonsensical claim.

No one in this thread and few people else where havehad a problem with Vanquish's engine (which does an impressive amount of stuff and looks nice doing it) though some might take issue with its art direction.

What I was pointing out was that vanquish has better gameplay than Crysis but yet Crysis gets so much more attention than it.

Oh, and don't judge me by my tag.

I wasn't excited by the demo, however the game was dropped to $40 new at Gamestop today, so I got it anyway hoping the demo just wasn't good.

I wasn't wrong, the demo should have made it clear, this game is overrated. Even the graphics are grossly over hyped, all the other retail PS3 games I have look as good or better, and they all play better. Big let down.

I FINALLY got around to playing this not too long ago and I love it. The game kicks all sorts of major ass. I didn't understand what people kept on saying about how it all makes sense, as far as gameplay, but once I delved into it a bit further, I think I am getting a better understanding of it. I've only taken on one boss thus far, but that fight was really cool to undertake.

More impressions as I get more and more further into Vanquish!

Im loving it so far. It took a little while to get use to it but the more I play, the more I'm understanding it. I've died quite a lot but that's probably because I'm playing on Hard. Great game. Can't wait to get home and play it some more.

I bought the game on launch day and loved it. In fact, I beat it 3 times. However, the game is CRIPPLED by a devilish learning curve. It wasn't until my second playthrough that I really settled into the groove of the combat and started to have alot of fun. I still think it's one of the best shooters this generation however, despite these flaws.

I love this game, but I hate how it portrays the US. It's almost anti-American, it's so bad it's not even funny.

I thought P.N.03 was great. Vanquish is definitely an extension of that game.

Actually Vanquish is epically over-rated.
