Hey everyone, I asked this question a long time ago and no one knew the answer. I am trying to find the name of this vertical shooter I played a many years ago in the arcades. It was a 2 player game where you flew ships (totally helps right?). The only "distinct" things I remember were that, in between levels, you could pick 1 of several superweapons, and once you used it for that level, it would no longer be selectable throughout the rest of the game. 1 of the weapons was a shield that made you invincible and another was a giant laser. The other "distinct" thing was that the last level didn't really have enemies, you were just trying to navigate a ship and avoid hitting the walls. I was in my early teens at the time, and I'm 22 now, so it's nothing remotely new, and I clearly remember it being in an arcade unit that I played all the time at my local rec center. Any ideas? Thanks.

Ikaruga ?

I remember because, playing it on the Gamecube, I remember the last level said something along the lines of "WARNING, YOU HAVE NO WEAPONS" and I was all "?!"
I'm not 100% on the other aspects you said.

The GGD Games Remembrance Thread is for this type of thing though. They're good over there from what I've heard.

It wasn't Ikaruga, I definitely would have remembered that, as legendary as it is.

Giga Wing... maybe? It was released in 1999 so that puts it in the ideal time slot. Or maybe Giga Wing 2?

If not, maybe this will help?
