I currently receive "Game Informer," but I was wondering if there are any other decent video game magazines within the U.S. It seems that the larger and better magazines are published and sold in other countries and to get it in America, the subscription would cost minimum $100. Are the prices and the subscriptions to magazines such as "Edge" and "Retro Gamer" worth it? Or is there an American-based gaming magazine that is just as massive and good?

American gaming magazines suck, and have for about 3 or 4 years now. The worst downfall was Gameinformer, mostly as a result of being bought out by Lamestop, but Gamepro is a close second place.

I love most of the UK gaming mags, especially Retro Gamer. Edge is pretty good too, but I'd say Retro Gamer is the only one worth dropping the big bucks to subscribe to. I have got so many gaming recommendations from that magazine that it has influenced the way I collect. Well worth the money if you ask me.

Apart from the retrogamer one mentioned above, I find most magazines a total waste of money. With the exception of the odd exclusive review (we're talking a few days in most cases) the content can all be found for free online.

I've been susbcribed to Nintendo Power for lke 15 years.

There not as good sa they used to be ever since I think 2006 or 2007 when Nintendo was no longer connected with them and they stopped writting strategy guides it just went downhill. Still a decent magazine but nowhere near as good as it once was.

I don't trust any professional source's opinion on anything modern, but I do like a lot of the articles in Retro Gamer. Enthusiast magazines seem to be less susceptible to publisher pole polishing than ones intended for general distribution.

Edge are so far up themselves it's insane. Games TM is a good magazine, I've been subscribed to it for a while now and it has loads of content in there that makes it worth the money.

There's one mag here in India called SKOAR! It's the only one here but quite satisfying. I'm also a coilector of gaming stuff.
