I was wondering what game has the best looking water. Anyone know? I was thinking bioshock but idk. I seen a video on gametrailers earlier and it really made me think about water in game. I always really look at that when im playin my xbox.

Here is the link of the video i saw. it had good choices but too many to chose my best.

There's a game coming out called Cryostasis which has some really awesome DX10 Tech Videos that show off how awesome the water is. When it's pouring onto the ground, the water puddle expands and changes shape, and when you push an object (barrel or what have you) into the water, it makes a suitably sized wave. It's pretty freaking cool, I'll have to find those videos.

Onimusha 2 had some real looking river water in the background. That is probably the best I've seen.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if it didn't.

The realistic water is supposed to be BioShock's thing, I can't imagine the devs letting the competition show them up :P

I was going to say Halo 3. I really like the water on Valhalla, especially when you die in it and it kind of muffles the sound + you get to see it so well. After watching the video I liked Crysis's water, bioshocks, and uncharted more, but other than that maybe the Duck game.

I'm surprised nobody has said Crysis. The Ocean in that game can look better than the Ocean in real life on high enough settings

Gears of War 1 & 2 really impressed the hell out of me with it's water and water effects. Bioshock and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts has some fantastic water action going on in them as well.

For its time but time has not been kind, and the games zoom features does it little favour. I would say Bioshock, the water effects in that game are great :D.

I doubt it, the tech behind this game has to be hardware accelarated...meaning that consoles cant support it.

wow that crysostasis video was pretty. That's some pretty sweet effects with the water. I wonder when we will see a gaming engine where water will also have density. Call me a geek but I was curious as to when we might have to use water, in the way in actually works in the real world, to solve puzzles and junk in games. For instance, there is a stream and you have to like actually use objects in real time to block it off and divert the water to somewhere else and maybe get it to pour into something and thus the weight from the water would cause something to happen. Maybe a door opens or w/e. Sorta how like some of the Half Life 2 puzzles worked where you would have to use the physics of the game to solve things.

I was particularly awestruck by Age Of Empire 3's dazzling water effects.

Titan Quest also has really gorgeous looking water.

A game that has an actual focus on water: Wave Race: Bluestorm. I found the water detail pretty nice in this game.
