Hi everybody! I come with this new topic that brings bad bad news for all Venezuelan Gamers... Including my self...

On August of 2009, the Venezuelan National assembly (AN) approved the law of prohibition against all combat, war, conflict, fighting, etc type of videogame or toy, and this law will be cominsed on February 3erd 2010. This law is being implemented because the Venezuelan Government says that most of all violent related occurrences in the country are caused because of the practice of videogames. This law says that all manufacture, importation, distribution, purchase, sale, rental and use is a illegal act and whoever is found doing any of the mentioned will be fined with:

* 110,000.oo to 220,000.oo bsf ( 236,500.00 to 473,000.00 US$, depending on the cost of the dollar)

* 3 to 5 years of prison time; and

* The destruction of the videogame or toy.

In my opinion this law is unfair and F!@#$ wrong!

PD: This is not a rumor, the sours is from the official site of the Venezuelan National Assembly...

I think the movie industry is happy with all their gut spilling, limb tearing, blood bathing and face eating scenes.

If you live there, I suggest you move right now, but not to Australia because they are not much better.

I don't know much about Venezuelan politics, but I'd imagine that after a few years of seeing your country's crime rates remain exactly the same the politicians will figure out how stupid they were and reverse the decision. Or maybe they won't because they are idiots after all.

On the bright side I don't think it would be terribly difficult to get around that law. I'd go into more detail about that but I don't want to get banned.

I don't think it'll affect gamers much. My guess is that the black market has been a lucrative business there for awhile now. Greece had a similar law passed like 10 years ago but it soon was overturned.
