Video games you can't beat no matter how hard you try?

A had a lot of trouble beating games growing up, but it's rare that I find a game overly hard these days.

Tales of Graces F...as much as I love this game, I can't beat Kurt for the life of me. I'm pretty sure he's considering pretty OP anyway.

Honestly that is the only game that comes to mind. But, I'm sure some older SNES titles I'd find pretty difficult if I were to give them a go.

Road Rash.

I got to level 7 and now I can't finish a single race.

P.S. I've never played a Souls game. I'm guessing they'll show up on this post.

Difficulty for those games is heavily exaggerated but I know many here in GD claim them as impossible. Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze is honestly harder than a Soulsborne game. What adds difficulty into a Souls game is the invasion mechanic, though with that claim nothing is stopping the Player switching to offline mode, it damages a lot of the fun, but is a feature to do. New Game Plus is also a minor factor though that would be after 'beating the game' so won't consider that relevant_

On the subject of the thread, not sure I've given up on a game solely because I found it challenging. But have given up on games because I wasn't having fun. Don't mind dying in games, I like trail and error method, so its the quality of product issues for me personally.

It took me like 4 years to finally beat Lost Odyssey. Got stuck on a boss and finally figured out how to beat it. Still, after all that, one of my favorite games.

Motion based: Furi

Turn based: Rance 10

Gaiares for the Sega Genesis/MD. Never got past the third level.

Battletoads on nes, could only ever make it to the driving tunnel. Then I would usally run out of lives.

Manhunt checkpoint system is hellish.

Earthworm Jim 1 comes to mind, it's the underwater level part where I'm racing to the finish line and I never make it to the end before time runs out and I'm dead. Battletoads on SNES, now that's another game I failed miserably.

Never could beat demon souls only souls game that never clicked with me for some reason. Maybe give it another go if it gets a PS4 remaster.

Ninja Gaiden on NES. How anyone could beat that game is beyond me.

Soulsborne games being stat based you can grind out a million levels, minmax an ideal build and overpower a boss that way. You don't need to, but it's an option. Or summon help if all else fails. I would say more people have given up on a downright hostile game like Ninja Gaiden Black than they have a Souls game.

@byrdyin: Lost Odyssey for me too. I've tried a few times but I always get stuck on the same boss. I just gave up.

GTA3 had me stuck. I had to break into some bad guys villa. There were too many enemies to kill and I couldn't continue.

And there was another GTA game where I had to fly a plane during a mission. Before the mission I had to do some plane tutorial. I could never get hang of the controls and just gave up. Might have been San Andreas.

GTA San Andreas toy planes mission. Fuk that mission to hell.

Also every fighting games after tekken 3.

Dark Souls 3 and Boodborne. Too hard to play and not interesting enough to want to get good at it.

Valkyria Chronicles. I love JRPG's so naturally I was drawn to the art style and the character models. I'm not big on strategy games, though, so I dropped it when it started getting difficult.

Basically, any GTA that have mandatory plane missions. Everything else is easy peasy lemon squeezy there, until I get to those damned plane missions. The only exception was GTA: SA where I could actually fly a plane somewhat, but on-wards, I don't know, flying in those games for me is hard as f**k.

Also, any strategy game with war as an option. On my own I can't beat them, so I simply download an in-game editor or use cheat codes to be a god or something, and just have fun by messing around. I mean, vanilla Civ5 now is boring for me without in-game editor, which lets me have nine billion gold.

Nethack. I've been playing it for decades. I've been told the only way to beat it is from reading all the spoilers.

Ghosts and Goblins. You should really have 30 lives or so. As I recall you just get hit twice and you're dead.

All of those NES games like Battletoards etc... more or less everything on the NES that had levels and stuff was impossible I found M TMBT et TMNT etc Simpsons whatever...

Meanwhile all the short kinda just get high scores games went fine basically because they're just so short.

It's Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. I saw it on the front page of techbigs. I was keeping falling and falling again but there is a man on youtube who finished it under 2 minutes.

Most racing games.

That doesn't happen to me often, but Alundra is one: back then I made it to the final boss and couldn't beat it cause I didn't get the master sword or whatever. Many years later I bought the game on PSN and made it to the end again, and again I couldn't beat the final boss. It's a curse. Hopefully third time really is the charm, whenever that's going to be.

mafia 1 racing level....awful cheating ai.

Battletoads on NES, Had the game since I was 7 back in 94.

Necro thread. But who gives a shit, it's a fun topic.

I'm pretty good at games and should be able to beat everything that isn't near impossible. I can beat Super Meat Boy, Ikaruga, Cuphead, Sekiro, Souls games, Mega Man games, etc. without that much hassle.

Then there's games like Ghosts'n'Goblins or Battletoads that are really, freaking, super hard. I can probably beat those too, but I'd need to spend more time on them than I'd want to.

Hang-On is giving me a reeeeally hard time atm. Had a run where I'm not sure exactly what I did wrong but still came up slightly short. Amazing game though which is much better than its sequel!!

Cuphead. That game is nuts
