No one plays just a little heroin hero...

You run through the woods, chasing the dragon, but you can never catch him...

It's Viva Pinata, and it has gone multiplatform , starting with the PC release yesterday, and coming soon to a Nintendo DS near you.

This game is absolute pure, undiluted crack - gaming perfection - the greatest thing Rare has done since Banjo & Kazooie, and *better* than Banjo & Kazooie. Yeah. If you missed this on the 360, fish it out of the bargain bin. If you have a PC, get it, if you have a DS, grab it, and start camping out. Everything about this game is a form of perfect - it only *looks* like a kid's game, and when your Pinatas are breeding like rabbits, eating each other's insides, and being murdered by vandals, you'll start to understand why you haven't slept in three days.

Damnit... I can't stop playing.

I was excited till I saw the price tag for the PC version.

40 bucks on PC, 20 bucks on 360, ridiculous.

correct me if I'm wrong. A link would be nice too.

Drugs aren't cheap.

I had coupons and reward points at Best Buy, and managed to get it for $31. Honestly it's worth its price tag far more than short, dissapointing titles such as Bioshock were. In a world where people buy generic shooter after generic shooter at $50 a pop, everyone needs to take a break for a bit and play some Viva Pinata.

I left my hard earned Chewnicorn alone for less than 2 minutes and Professer Pester waltzes on in and kills him dead. What the hell man?? There's like, a dozen Tafflys floating around, you had to go after the magical horse didn't you. Taste my shovel, bastard.

Yeah, I really liked Viva. It was different, and the fact that it actually encourages you to kill or sell off animals was totally unexpected and a bit hard to get used to, but the game is very addictive and charming as hell.

I was so excited when Viva Pinata was announced for PC moreso than Gears of War, partly because Gears of War was always a given, but I really didn't expect to see Viva Pinata on PC although it makes perfect sense. The price is a bit of a downer, it's 30 pounds when pretty much every PC game is 25 pounds so I'll probably get it later than I wanted to.Viva Pinata is supposed to be a family friendly game, it's supposed to be more affordable, not more expensive.

Viva Pinata was good but not great. As an adult, I got more enjoyment out of the Sims 2 (PC) than I did Viva Pinata just because The Sims offered a lot more stuff to do.

As a kid's game Viva Pinatawas pretty lousy because of the lengthy unskippable tutorial, the time it takes to get a good garden going, and the fact there were no prefabricated gardens one could hop into. Me and my kids used to hit a local McDonalds which had Viva Pinata running once a week, and I'd always watch kids get drawn in by the beautiful graphics and nice intro, but get bored during the tutorial.

My own kids enjoyed messing around in my garden quite a bit (sadly, the only interaction one has with pinata is whacking them with shovels, which sickens them and eventually kills them, so I had one garden I tended for the kids and one I managed for myself). My kids are why I think that Viva Pinata could have been more popular if it boasted full gardens players could just hop into, instead of starting them off with a field of dirt. I also think more interactions would have been nice. Kids see the game, they want to interact with the characters, but as I mentioned before, the only way to directly interact with them was to hurt them. How hard would it have been to put in the option to pet the pinatas?

I also think the promotion for Viva Pinata was lousy. Unlike many X360 games the playable demo didn't hit until months after the game had been released. Before that, there was a sort of interactive demo which was more focused on pushing the cartoon than the game.

I loved Viva Pinata. My 360 version broke, but Microsoft gave me a free copy after sending in my 360 the second time.

I was excited about both of these titles for different reasons. Viva Pinata, simply because I'm more comfortable with a mouse for this kind of game, and Gears of War because I've been looking forward to the editor for some time. I've never worked with a 3D editor before, so Gears has brought me some exciting new challenges.

Both of these games have been a blast for me, they're unique in their own ways, and both bring something wonderful to their genre. With Gears and Viva Pinata now multiplatform, and hopefully coming to more platforms (gears on ps3? unknown... viva pinata on ds - confirmed) everyone should take some time to head back and catch up.

I managed to get a deal on Viva Pinata, and got it for 25% off after all was said and done, which brought the price down to a pretty sweet deal for so much enjoyable gameplay.
