Well let's see, when it comes to Expansions/DLC they are:

  • Blood & Wine (Witcher 3)
  • Lair of the Shadow Broker and Arrival (Mass Effect 2)
  • Iki Island (Ghost of Tsushima)
  • Phantom Liberty (Cyberpunk 2077)
  • Burning Shores (Horizon: Forbidden West)
  • Citadel (Mass Effect 3)
  • Left Behind (The Last of Us)
  • Shadow of RAAM (Gears of War 3)
  • Dragonborn (Skyrim)
  • The Lost and Damned & The Ballad of Gay Tony (Grand Theft Auto 4)
  • The Delicious Last Course (Cuphead)
  • The Taken King (Destiny) Note: I was a huge fan of Destiny back on PS4 but not anymore as Destiny 2 left a bad taste in my mouth.
  • Year of the Snake (Sleeping Dogs)
  • Minerva’s Den (Bioshock 2)

Also, I want to point out that all DLC for Fallout: New Vegas is so worth every penny just how awesome the game is that wasn't made by Bethesda themselves.

Shivering Isles (from the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion). The art style was incredible.

  • Homeworld: Cataclysm. Technically a standalone game but it was marketed as an expansion/spinoff, so I am including it here. I really have a thing for story-driven RTS games (no multiplayer for me, tyvm haha) and Cataclysm managed to take one of my favorite story-telling genres (sci-fi horror) and blend it with Homeworld's excellent narrative story-telling and make a great game about an underdog mining clan saving the universe from a cosmic horror.
  • Command and Conquer expansions. Like...all of them. Really good bang for your buck, high-quality stuff. The worst one was Red Alert Counter-Strike because it didn't add new units or anything, but it did give us GIANT ANTS! And that was a lot of fun. The rest were all really good.
  • The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. An expansion with more high-quality content than most whole games. Just an amazing effort with incredible results. Loved that expansion.
  • Stellaris. Paradox Interactive is incredibly aggressive with their DLC and I'd argue half of them are not worth it, but the good ones really add a lot of content to the games.
  • Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty. Much like Blood and Wine, Phantom Liberty adds an entire game's worth of content in a DLC expansion pack, making it a great value. Additionally, it is arguably a better story and of equal or better quality than the original game. Couple it with the 2.0 update that essentially changed a lot of the game from the ground up, and it was a worthy addition to a flawed but great game. It's one of those DLC's where when you think about it, your next thought is "Man I should reinstall that game".
  • ArmA series: Arma 2 and 3 had some pretty decent DLC; added tanks and planes and new gameplay elements, refined sniping, and so on and so forth.
  • Total War series (as a whole). Another really aggressive company when it comes towards their DLC, a lot of it is overpriced cash grabbing, but when they're good, they're really good.
  • Blizzard games: with a couple exceptions (WoW Shadowlands being one of the more recent ones), Blizzard releases amazing, high-quality, and fairly large expansions for their games that add life and change things around for the better. They also do a really good game of refining and updating the core game to coincide with the release of whatever expansion is coming out, so in many respects not only are you getting new content, but you're also getting a revamped and much better game as a whole.

Honorable mentions: I know they're not DLC but they might as well be, you know?

  • Assorted mods for Half-Life series
  • Assorted mods for Elder Scrolls games

Dark Souls 2 has some pretty stellar DLC. Some of the best areas of any Souls game.

Yeah Dark Arisen is really good.

The first Dragon's Dogma is definitly a 10/10. When it's not busy being a 2/10 game 95% of the time. 😏

Indeed. I easily upgraded all my weapons and armour to highest tier farming daemon and the cursed dragons than death on dark arisen , and the enemies were very challenging also. Plus the sad tale of Daemon and the haunting theme , captivated me like no other.
