My opinion

Deus Ex

The Witcher 3

NBA 2k17

Xcom 2

Everything else this gen has been kind of meh so far. Shadow of Mordor and the new Batman Game were alright. GTA V is a massive world and game but gets really boring. Uncharted 4 and games like Until Dawn were good for the playthroughs and that was it. More rentals. I don't know what else. Some of the telltale stuff is alright i guess and remasters of old lucasarts games but not really feeling much else. I can't get into games like Dark Souls or Destiny at all. Even the division was a flop imo. Ubisoft has had a lot of major releases and hasn't released a good game yet. Activision has diablo 3 and overwatch from blizzard but i think these games and all the call of duty stuff is highly overrated.

I'm waiting for Mafia III this year that's about it. The fact they are still doing remasters of last gen games and are already releasing new consoles is absurd to me. I guess 4k and nice to have but the amount of nonsense and greed over the years has really taken away from games. Bobby Kotick is still evil in my book. The ps4 on the other hand is a great piece of hardware. There are games and a mix of indie stuff but it's just a handful of major developers and a lot of hype though. It's really a few people getting rich and a lot of hype surrounding it. The internet is full of it.

too much shallowness and people trying to keep up vs actual substance. 90 percent of what is on the internet is absolute crap that way. Some good information but I don't know.

I don't mind them I 've never actually played through a whole metal gear game. I've tried them briefly. Just never got into them overly. I have nothing against metal gear. I just don't mention them because I never played them really.

I played Bethesda games last gen and really liked fallout 3 but Fallout 4 on my brief time with it just felt boring. That's another company that hasn't done much for me this gen. Dishonored might be alright but I probably won't buy it.

Bethesda and Rockstar make good games but they are just releasing the same stuff.

Konami and Metal Gear just never got into for some reason. Never got into Yakuza either.

Days gone and Detroit become human and cyberpunk and games like that are more the games that interest me but they are a ways off.

Hmm, those game are not even close to my list

Im still waiting for games that will blow me away.

Im counting on Mafia 3, Civ VI , Dishonored 2 , closely followed by GTA V and Fallout 4.

That's a lot of games. I can't get into the oldschool rpg throwbacks too much though. Call of Duty and more call of duty and Gears and Halo I don't know. There is no game there I want to spend money on. Watchdogs 2 looks sort of interesting but I don't trust ubisoft.

I've simply liked a lot of games in the past few years, it doesn't take much for me to enjoy a game though. All it needs to do is play well, and not take me away from the gameplay/ damage the experience. So not counting Remasters, this is what I enjoyed-

  • Monster Hunter 4G
  • The Evil Within
  • Tearaway
  • Disgaea 5 (I'm a huge fan of the series)
  • Strider HD
  • D00M
  • Dark Souls III
  • Mother Russia Bleeds
  • Elite: Dangerous (backer)
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • Bayonetta 2
  • The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
  • Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-

*And probably more_

*While I didn't exactly mind The Witcher 3 and Xcom 2, I found them to have technical issues I couldn't ignore. Especially Xcom 2! Add to that Fallout 4 lol. All three very good games, just not to my taste.

I'm beyond hyped for Resident Evil: Remake 2, Pokémon Sun, and BloodStained (I'm a backer :D), and hope more games come that are enjoyable also.

There are a bunch of awesome games out... Witcher 3 (plus DLC) is absolutely amazing!

Also lower profile games like Ori and the Blind Forest, Valiant Hearts, Child of Light, Inside etc, are incredible.

Of the games I've played, I've found I go back to Bloodborne, Destiny, The Witcher 3, Uncharted 4, and now Dark Souls 3 the most. I also was very fond of Abzu and Furi. No Man's Sky became a bore very quickly, and I haven't played DOOM enough to form a full opinion. Same with Deus Ex, though I did enjoy what I played a lot.

So far, I've enjoyed these games:

  • Rodea the Sky Soldier (Wii)
  • The Witcher III
  • Azure Striker Gunvolt 1-2
  • Freedom Planet
  • Street Fighter V
  • Ace Attorney 5-6
  • Mushihimesama
  • A Link Between Worlds
  • Shantae and the Pirate's Curse
  • AM2R
  • Rocket League
  • Shovel Knight
  • Overwatch
  • Doom

Then there's DoDonPachi Resurrection, Sonic Mania, Shenmue III, Bloodstained, Freedom Planet 2, Shantae 4, Monster Boy, Breath of the Wild, and Cyberpunk on the way, so there's a lot I'm looking forward to as well.

Thanks for the lists. I'm reading them. Some interesting games but a lot of stuff I'm just not overly interested in as well. Keep em coming if you want. I really was not impressed with Overwatch. I tried to get into it. Doom I have thought of picking up but may be disapointed. Some of those other games I don't even know what they are. Enjoying the witcher, nba 2k right now and Deus Ex I thought was just good but not great. Xcom 2 is a really modern strategy game and done really well and worth the price just for that reason alone.

I dload the free stuff off psn so i have shovel knight and rocket league and games like that but never got into them. Even Child of Light. I can see where they are good games but just couldnt get into them. Strider HD too and games like that. I couldn't even really get into Journey.

I've bought or at least tried most of the major open world releases. I havent tried Dying Light, Mad Max, just cause or any of those. Not a big japanese anime fan either.

The Evil Within is interesting but horror. I've thought of trying Murdered Soul Suspect.

Most of the major open world releases have been mediocre. Watchdogs, AC Unity, Syndicate, Infamous Second Son, Arkham Knight. I bought all these games and they are all pretty mediocre. Arkham Knight being the best one. I also own GTA V and The Witcher 3, mlb the show, madden, nba 2k. I'm bored of GTA. I'm really just playing the witcher still and nba 2k right now.

I bought madden 17 it was good for a bout a week but is a waste of money each year. NBA 2k17 is actually a great game. Best basketball game ever.

I like Strategy games, adventure games and action adventure open world, rpgs and some sports games mainly. I'll play a good platformer if its a good platformer with a good story or twist. Like Out of this World was one of my favorite games of all time. Shadow of Beast I played this gen too. I like shooters sometimes too. The battlefield 1 beta was pretty good but I cant' stand milkage. I don't see myself buying that game.

Mafia III hopefully fills my itch tomorrow. I'm getting really picky with games after spending money on all those games that werent really worth it. I'm tired of GTA. The wticher 3 and nba 2k are good. Probably will wait for cyberpunk and play the hell out of mafia. There are some other games like watchdogs 2 and mass effect andromada, days gone, horizon zero dawn that interest me coming but I need to be more picky. Honestly Watch Dogs, AC Syndicate, Unity, Infamous Second Son, Madden etc. that's like $280+ that could have gone elsewhere. Plus rentals and everything else. I buy Madden every year and need to stop. Assassins creed is also a big pile of poo. GTA was w orth it so was the witcher, but Mafia looks so much better than GTA. That game will be worth it.

Ask me in two months. There are so many games on the horizon, it's insane. I'm going to blow like 250 dollars on games this month I think. Ugh. But Yay, too.

But yeah I like that list; Deus Ex MD was sweet, XCOM 2 isn't new to me (PC gamer here) but yeah that's new to you and it's a great game, and The Witcher 3 is arguably one of the best games to come out ever.

i'm playing the bioshock collection atm and the original holds up extremely well for a 9 year old game. plus it has all the dlc for 1, 2 and infinite. and it's really cheap. i'm just buying games for buying sake now since i have them on pc. possibly on the 360 too lol. i was seduced by all the dlc and the price.

if you enjoyed the games first time round i'd definitely consider it. it's one of the better remasters i've seen and is a nice blast from the past. but oh what i'd give for a stalker trilogy remaster for the ps4 *drools

@aishanegi: You know what, I actually really like Battlefront, but that's mostly because I only payed $20 for the game when it was on sale. I would've been furious to pay the full retail price as well as another $50 for the DLC. Lots of fun though and I personally enjoy it more than the old ones because of how much of an improvement the visuals and sound is. I don't excuse EA for what they did but when I saw that it was being sold for $20 and was getting skirmish mode (which kinda sucks to be honest, but the MP is still fun) then I felt like it was finally worth it.

I can't actually think of a single game that is exclusive to the new gen, which could be considered great. Seriously. FO4 was good but I got bored towards the end and still haven't gone back to it. I haven't played enough of TW3.

Other than that...erm...err...

A waste of time? except the fact that it's repetitive as hell, which is indeed damaging the experience, this game has one of the best gameplay i've ever played. and the AI is an example for how making games.

Really? You admit it's repetitive but then go onto say it had great gameplay? How does that work.

It certainly opens up very promisingly and I played the firs t3 or 4 hours with absolute glee and then something hit me....every portion of the map looks the same, plays the same and all the checkpoints are the same. You get 3-4 guards, they all have a certain weakness in their positioning and once you figure it out, down they go. It's as easy as that. And I played on the hardest setting (as I do all MGS games).

Oh and don't even get me started on the natures of the obligatory side ops before you get to an actual story mission and by story I mean the ramblings of a half crazed mad man who is too lazy to even write a coherent story with an ending.

Game can be very good, with great gameplay and still be a repetitive...and i do mentioned it's "damaging the experience".

i like it alot and it's one of the best games in this generation...saying it's an "absolute waste of time" is a little bit exaggerated criticism IMO.

Of course a game can be repetitive and still be good.

Every single game in the world is repetitive , you do the same thing again and again, it´s the basic of any game, be it MGS or any other game. So using that argument is moot.

@Jacanuk: First of all, nobody is arguing. in general you are right, every game is somehow repetitive, but in the case of this game specifically it's severe. and yet, it has one of the most unique and polished gameplay i've ever played. claim this game is a waste of time is a bit ridiculous.

Mine;

  • Dark Souls 3
  • Battlefield 1

Those are all i play atm. I'm semi-interested in Civ6 too.

E: oh, and i also have the latest build of Star Citizen always installed, but i don't really think it counts at this point.

MGS V is no more repetitive than Call Of Duty, Witcher 3 or GTA. Or pretty much every single game you can find out there.

The reason why it may feel it´s more severe is probably because the game does feel appealing, which is fine. we all like different things. But saying the game is to repetitive is like saying water is too wet.

It's much more repetitive than the games you've mentioned above. let's agree about our disagreement.

@Jacanuk: First of all, nobody is arguing. in general you are right, every game is somehow repetitive, but in the case of this game specifically it's severe. and yet, it has one of the most unique and polished gameplay i've ever played. claim this game is a waste of time is a bit ridiculous.

MGS V is no more repetitive than Call Of Duty, Witcher 3 or GTA. Or pretty much every single game you can find out there.

The reason why it may feel it´s more severe is probably because the game does feel appealingl, which is fine. we all like different things. But saying the game is to repetitive is like saying water is too wet.

It's much more repetitive than the games you've mentioned above. let's agree about our disagreement.

Yup, let´s agree to disagree.
