there are so many awesome games coming out in the next few months that i cant afford them. i was just wondering what are the ill effects of converting my xbox? i had a ps2 that broke after awhile when i converted it because i played it too much. the dude who fixed it told me that i should only play 3 hours a day. is that the same with the xbox? also, when i converted my wii, there was that whole nintendo warning thing. if you don't know about that, basically nintendo added this neccessaryupdate that would break your wii if you've had it modified. so that screwed me over. is there anything like that for the xbox?

One of the "ill effects" would most likely be suspension.

Banning yourself from Xbox Live really sucks. So does the prospect that you might brick your console outright.

Well there are some dangers: You will never be able to play online again. Game quality is reduced. Gameplay time is reduced considering quicker overheating. Getting Caught. Microsoft can turn your 360 into a "Brick". This Thread getting locked. You getting Banned. You being angry about getting banned, and getting arrested for innapropriate behaviour.

If you have homebrew you can play online through other services besides xbox live. Game quality is NOT reduced. Games run faster with less load times. Gameplay time is not reduced, system actually runs more efficiently when modded. Infact way more so if its homebrew. Microsoft cannot "brick" your console. They can only make it where you're harddrive won't work on any other system. Modding you're console is NOT illegal. Pirating games IS illegal. And to other people, don't get mad at me. The guy asked a question I'm simply answering truthfully. I don't encourage piracy, I support the videogame industry.
