What are your most atmospheric games?

Like the post says what games do you enjoy not only because of the story and gameplay but because the atmosphere is really immersive and enjoyable to you? my list

• Mirror's Edge the sunny skies and future utopian setting.
• Silent Hill Shattered Memories the snowy town is really well done it feels believable.
• Spec Ops the line the hot Dubai setting
• Sleeping Dogs Hong Kong at night with all the neon signs
• GTA Vice City 80's Miami
• Far Cry 2 Africa
• Max Payne 3 Brazil
• F.E.A.R. office levels
• Crysis Tropical setting
• GTA SA early 90's LA

Hard to go past Bioshock.

Mafia 2, Fallout 3, GTAIV.

The first ones that come to mind are any of the MYST games.

Otherwise, some other games include from the top of my head:

-Syndicate (2012 reboot)

FC3 and FC5 in Montana

LA Noire and The Saboteur. Got totally lost in the settings of both games. Music was a big part of it.

Bloodborne, the new GOW, Gears of war series, and probably San Andreas

I know this might sound strange cause it's an RTS, but I'm gonna go with Company of Heroes.

Nice choice I was actually thinking of adding this game I love the gritty setting.

I'm actually replaying this game again and the attention to detail of the 40's setting is extremely impressive.

I actually like the setting more then the game itself that's good it was done the devs nailed it.

Bioshock 1 was my most played atmospheric game. Nothing comes close for me maybe dead space 1.

Can probably name a few if I think about it but when atmosphere comes up it usually makes me think of Survival Horror games and the dark toned atmosphere.

And I can't think of a game that does (dark toned) atmosphere better than the remake of Resident Evil.

but the subject of atmosphere reminds me that if I ever get the time I should get back to 'The Forest'

Then what would you call it? every article of the game calls it's a utopian setting I think you might be confusing it with dystopian.

It is most definitely a dystopia: it's a police state planned society where police shoot any kind of dissident on sight.

Plenty of literary dystopias look clean and futuristic.

A few that come to mind are Doom (the PS1 version), MGS1, Hitman Contracts, Bully, GTA4 and Skyrim.

Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light are the most atmospheric games I've played.

@wigglebot: Agree. Mother 3 needs way more recognition, although I prefer EarthBound.

I still play Skyrim to this day, Far Cry 5 did an excellent job in depicting Montana. And I'm sure it's been said a million times but the new God of War.
